Masjid lama (The old mosque at) Sungai Ramal, Kajang

Assalamualaikum semua. Setelah membuat posting ke 191 di blogspot ini dengan tajuk Alhambra dan seterusnya (Alhambra and so on) : Replika di (Replicas at) Taman Tamadun Islam 2 minggu lalu, akhirnya hari ini baru saya terasa hendak menambah cerita. Mari! :]
Peace be upon you all. After making the 191th posting at this blogspot under the title Alhambra dan seterusnya (Alhambra and so on) : Replika di (Replicas at) Taman Tamadun Islam 2 weeks ago, at last today I felt like adding a new story. Come! :]

Two weeks ago I went for the Jumaat prayers at this mosque, the main mosque of Haji Mat Saman at Kampung Sungai Ramal Luar, Kajang.

The mosque is situated besides the highway which connects the town of Kajang to the North-South Highway.

Although I've been pass this route tens of times, maybe hundreds of times even, as far as I could remember this is the first time I ever visited this mosque.

Then only did I found out this rather beautiful mosque was built in the year 1929.

What was weird was something I realised when I went inside.

Nampak tak apa-apa yang pelik?
Notice anything strange?

Look closely at the position of the line of congregation as shown on the carpet in relation to the position of the walls of the mosque.

Sekian....
Then you would see that the direction of the kiblah (the Ka'abah in Mecca where every Muslim face in prayers) as dictated by the lines on the carpet is different by about 30 per cent than the frontal direction of mosque, maybe because of some miscalculation when the mosque was built 80 years ago. Oh, happy celebrating the Muslim festive day of Aidil Adha this Monday. That's all...
