Nombor 222 dan seni ukir Melayu (The number 222 and Malay art of carving)

Saya baru dapat tahu artikel Buku (the book) "Rumah Azan" yang baru dibuat tadi adalah artikel ke 221 di sini. Maka eloklah dibuat satu lagi artikel walaupun kecil untuk mencukupkan 222. Saya pun tergerak untuk membuat Google Image Search perkataan "ukiran kerawang" lalu terjumpa gambar di atas. Maka dengan secara tidak sengaja, saya juga terjumpa sebuah website yang menarik untuk para pencinta seni Melayu. I've just found out that the article Buku (the book) "Rumah Azan" made just now is the 221st article here. So it is good to make another article however small to make the total 222. Then I was moved to make a Google Image Search using the keywords "ukiran kerawang" (upper-wall wood carving) and found the picture above. So unintentionally, I came across an interesting website for those who loves the Malay art. Buku (the book) "Rumah Azan"

Assalamualaikum semua. Di sini saya ingin mengumumkan. Buku terbaru saya "Rumah Azan" sudah keluar dan dirasmikan Isnin lalu sempena Pesta Buku Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur 2009 yang berlangsung hingga Ahad ini. Buku ini boleh didapati di gerai Karnadya pada harga potongan RM75 berbanding harga pasaran yang dicadangkan RM108. Selepas itu baru ia diletakkan di kedai-kedai terpilih seluruh Malaysia.

Peace be upon you all. Here I would like to announce. My latest book "Rumah Azan" (literally interpreted as "House of the call to prayer") is already out and has been launched last Monday for the Kuala Lumpur Book Festival 2009 which will run until this Sunday. The book is available at the Karnadya booth for a discounted price of RM75 as compared to the recommended market price of RM108. After that only will the books be displayed at selected shops around Malaysia.

Di bawah ialah beberapa gambar buku yang saya ambil sendiri. Buku yang banyak memaparkan gambar-gambar ini mengenengahkan masjid-masjid terpilih di seluruh Semenanjung dengan cerita diolah untuk mengaitkan penyebaran Islam dengan perjuangan orang-orang Melayu sebelum dijajah Barat dan harapan untuk masa hadapan. Sekian.

Below are some pictures of the book I took myself. The book which has plenty of pictures highlights selected mosques from all round the Peninsular with the story weaved in such a way to connect the propagation of Islam with the fights and sacrifices of the Malay people before they were colonised by the West and their hopes for the future. That's all.
