Masjid (Mosque of) Kuala Pangsun

At Kuala Pangsun which is at a rural part of Hulu Langat there exist this small mosque.

Masjid ini agak istimewa buat saya kerana menjadi tempat berehat setelah 19 jam terperangkap dalam hutan berdekatan.
This mosque is rather special for me because it was the place of rest after getting trapped 19 hours inside a nearby jungle.

The event happened in the year 2003. What happened was I wanted to climb Gunung Nuang, the tallest mountain in Selangor from Janda Baik in Pahang with the intention of coming out at Hulu Langat.

Although it was my first time climbing it, and doing it alone some more I managed to reach the top after more than 7 hours walking and climbing.

Masalah berlaku apabila turun dari puncak jam 6: 30 petang. Hari mula gelap sedangkan saya tidak membawa apa-apa jenis lampu.
Problem happened after making the way down from the top at 6:30 in the evening. It began to get dark while I didn't bring any kind of light.

Kemudian saya tersesat.
The pitch darkness means I could only move very slow. Then I got lost.

Nasib baik saya akhirnya menemui jalan keluar.
Luckily in the end I found a way out. From 6:30 in the evening I went down until getting out at 1:30 in the afternoon the following day I could be considered to have got lost for 19 hours. Add this to the time I started the climb which is about 11 in the morning, I have been inside the jungle for 26 hours what more in the rain. Thus imagine my condition as I only brought a supply of a loaf of bread and small bottle of mineral water. It is at this mosque that I lied down totally spent with body full of bruises, the skin shrivelled after having walked long in the wet...

Masjid (Mosque of) Ar-Rahman, Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat

In the weekend in turn I went around Hulu Langat and made a stop at the mosque in Sungai Lui.

Bentuknya agak ringkas tetapi senang mata memandang.
Its shape is rather simple but pleasant to the eyes.

Masjid (Mosque of) Setia Ali, Muara

Satisfied at visiting the Malay Technology Museum and one other place (look at the article The island called Pulau Chermin in the blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH), we went to a mosque at the small town of Muara to do our prayers.

Namanya Masjid Setia Ali.
It's name is the mosque of Setia Ali.

Masjid ini memiliki bumbung seperti payung terbuka.
This mosque has a roof like an open umbrella.

Menaranya pula agak ringkas.
Its tower in turn is rather simple.

Muzium Teknologi Melayu (Malay Technology Museum), Brunei

Seterusnya kami pergi ke Muzium Teknologi Melayu.
Next we went to the Malay Technology Museum.

Letaknya cuma setengah kilometer sahaja dari makam Sultan Bolkiah jika berjalan kaki. Jika menaiki kereta pula anda harus mengambil jalan sejauh 2 km.

It is positioned just half a kilometre only from the tomb of Sultan Bolkiah if you walk. But by car you have to take roads as far as 2 km.

Mari kita lihat ke dalam.

Let us have a look.

Nampaknya banyak paparan mengenai kehidupan orang Melayu di kampung.

It looks like there's plenty of display on the Malay way of living in the villages.

Ada dipaparkan sedikit barangan tekstil.

There are also a bit of textiles on display.

Senjata...

Weapons...

Aksesori emas...

Gold accesories...

But majority of exhibits are that on the simple life in villages.

Maybe there are those who would ask, if that is the case then where lies the Malay technology?

My answer is, the Malay technology lies in a way of life that is intimate with nature. While Western nations who consider themselves as more advanced are now starting to look for a way back to approach a more simple life because the high technology they have been very proud of now proved to bring plenty of destruction physically and spiritually, the Malays of old have proved that technology has no meaning if life and soul becomes chaotic.
