Istana Raja Batak Simalungun di Permatang Purba (The Batak Simalungun king's palace at Permatang Purba)

Bersambung dari Masjid Raya (Main mosque of) Berastagi.
Continued from Masjid Raya (Main mosque of) Berastagi.

Selepas Berastagi kami turun selatan menghala ke Danau Toba lalu singgah di Permatang Purba di mana terdapat sebuah kompleks istana lama.
From Berastagi we went down south heading towards Danau (lake) Toba and stopped by at Permatang Purba where lies an old palace complex.


Ia menempatkan beberapa buah rumah tempat bersemayam sejumlah raja-raja Batak Simalungun dan keluarga.
It houses a number of houses which were residence of a number of Batak Simalungun kings and family.




Mari masuk ke rumah utama.
Let's enter the main house.


Ia dipanggil Rumah Bolon yang bermakna rumah besar.
It is called Rumah Bolon which means the big house.


Lihat apa yang terdapat.

Di sisi kanan ada sebuah bilik kecil.
At the right side there's a small room.


Ia adalah bilik untuk hubungan suami isteri.
It is the room from conjugal relationship.


Masuk ke ruang seterusnya, terdapat para panjang dengan dapur-dapur.
Enter the following section, there are long platforms and kitchens.


Raja-raja sini memiliki ramai isteri, sampai 12 perempuan pun ada! Setiap isteri memiliki dapur dan ruang tidur di sebelahnya.
The kings here had many wives, even up to 12 women! Every wife owned a kitchen and a space for sleeping besides it.


Agak menakutkan apabila ada keranda turut tersimpan di sini.
Quite scary it is when a coffin is also kept here.



Masjid Raya (Main mosque of) Berastagi

Sampai masa untuk bercerita lagi tentang perjalanan sekitar Medan yang turut membawa kami ke Berastagi. Bersambung dari Masjid (Mosque of) Al-Kamal, Sibolangit.
Come the time to narrate more on the trip around Medan which also brought us to Berastagi. Continuing from Masjid (Mosque of) Al-Kamal, Sibolangit.


Khamis 3 November 2011. Setelah berjalan-jalan melihat sekitar Berastagi kami ke masjid rayanya.
Thursday 3rd November 2011. After going around looking at the surrounding of Berastagi we went to its main mosque.


Ia adalah bangunan yang ringkas tapi amat bermakna.
It is a simple building but of much significance.


Ingat. Seperti Sibolangit, Berastagi terletak di dalam kawasan tanah tinggi orang Batak yang majoritinya beragama Kristian.
Remember. Just like Sibolangit, Berastagi is situated inside the highland area of the Batak people who are mainly of the Christian faith.
