Adapun bangunan jam besar dibina selari dengan Masjid Zahir yang terletak berdekatan.

As it is the big clock building was built in line with Masjid (mosque of) Zahir which is situated nearby.

Masjid ini dibina pada tahun 1912 iaitu 105 tahun lalu.

This mosque was built in the year 1912 which is 105 years ago.

Semasa itu masjid ini berwarna kuning.

At that time this mosque was coloured yellow.

Selepas beberapa lama ia dicat putih. 

After some time it was painted white. 

Baru kini saya mahu meletakkan rupa baru masjid di blogspot ini...

It was only now that I want to put the new look of the mosque in this blogspot...

Across the road from the Balai Nobat lies this buidling.

Ia dinyatakan sebagai Bangunan Jam Besar...

It is stated as the Bangunan jam besar (big clock building)...

Dari Balai Besar saya berjalan ke bangunan ini.

From the big hall I walked to this building.

Ia adalah pintu gerbang ke Balai Nobat.

It is the gates to the Balai (hall of) Nobat.

Balai Nobat adalah tempat menyimpan alatan Nobat iaitu alat musik tradisional untuk majlis-majlis diraja.

The Nobat hall is the place for keeping the Nobat instruments which is traditional musical instruments for royal functions.

Inilah bangunan balainya...

Kembali ke bandar raya Alor Setar saya berjalan kaki mengekori satu laluan taman lalu terlihat pintu masuk ke satu kawasan bangunan.

Returning to the city of Alor Setar I walked following a garden path and saw the entry point to an area of buildings.

Masuk ke dalam saya melihat bangunan ini.

Entering inside I saw this building.

Di belakangnya ada satu lagi bangunan.

Behind it there is one more building.

Ia memiliki pintu gerbang sendiri tetapi saya rasa ia terkait dengan bangunan sebelum ini..

It has its own gate but I feel it is related to the previous building.

Kembali melihat bangunan tadi.

Back to looking at the previous building.

Bila dah bergerak ke hadapan baru saya sedar ini adalah Balai Besar Alor Setar.

When I have moved to the front then only I realised it is the Balai Besar (Big hall of) Alor Setar.

Ia adalah tempat untuk mengadakan majlis-majlis rasmi Kesultanan Kedah suatu masa dahulu...

It is the place to hold official functions of the Sultanate of Kedah once upon a time...

Petang itu saya ke Langgar, 11 km ke timur bandar raya Alor Setar lalu singgah ke makam ini.

That afternoon I went to Langgar, 11 km to the east of the city of Alor Setar and stopped by at this tomb.

Di sebelah kelihatan sebuah makam berbatu nesan Aceh.

Sebuah hotel kayu di Alor Setar (A wooden hotel in Alor Setar)

Kembali pada perjalanan 12-21 Januari yang kini bertumpu pada utara Semenanjung Malaysia.

Returning back to the 12-21 January trip which now concentrates on northern Peninsular Malaysia.

Saya sampai ke Alor Setar, Kedah pagi Rabu 18 Januari 2017 lalu mengambil bilik di sebuah hotel murah di tengah bandar raya.

I arrived in Alor Setar, Kedah on Wednesday morning 18th January 2017 and took a room at a cheap hotel in the middle of the city.

Saya tertarik kerana ia menggunakan bangunan kayu berupa sebuah rumah tradisional Melayu.

I was attracted because it used a wooden building the likes of a Malay traditional house.

Lukisan menunjukkan bangunan suatu masa dahulu.

I was told this original building has stood for over 50 years. Later some additions were made...
