There's this board showing the amount of donation received which was then used to build this mosque.

Istana (palace of) Bandar

Sekian...
On the recent Saturday 13th December, I went to Jugra in Selangor to visit some historical places in and around it. Among it is the Istana (palace of) Bandar which was built by the 5th Sultan (ruler) of Selangor, Sultan Alaeddin (ruled 1898-1938). Here let me put some pictures of the palace without any comment ya. That's all...

Makam (tomb of) Panglima Mat Berani, Pagoh...

Recently, I also visited the tomb of an olden Malay warrior known by the name Panglima (a warrior of high status) Mat Berani (not real name but called Mat Berani because of his bravery, "Berani" being the Malay word for brave).

This tomb is situated alongside the Muar river around Pagoh, Johor. For information, Panglima Mat Berani is a warrior who came from Pahang and died while assisting the Melaka Malay soldiers fighting against a Portuguese attack when Sultan Mahmud Shah was forced to retreat to Pagoh in the year 1511.
Makam beliau ditanda dengan batu nesan Aceh. Ini menandakan beliau bukan calang-calang orang. Kain kuning pula menandakan kaitan diraja...
His tomb is marked with Aceh-type gravestones. This shows that he is not any Tom, Dick and Harry. The yellow clothings further signifies ties with royalty.

Sekian...
I took the opportunity to correct a bit the position of the yellow clothings available. I removed the newest yellow clothes which have been tied around the foot section to the head gravestone. That's all...

Batu nesan Aceh di (Aceh gravestones in) Bukit Beruang, Melaka

OK. Mari!
OK. Come the time to make some new stories for my blogspots. Come!

About 10 days ago, on the way back for holiday in Muar, I stopped at Bukit Beruang, Melaka.

My purpose was to look for a Muslim burial ground containing a number of Aceh gravestones, a type of olden gravestone that is only used by Malay nobility and royalty.

Thank God, after looking for something I managed to find it.

Lihat bentuk batu nesan yang ada ini...

Look at the gravestones available here...

The gravestones here are believed to belong to family members and descendants of Datuk Aroom, the first Malay capitan (local leader) who headed the Malay community in Melaka during the time of Dutch rule (1641-1824)

Some 200 metres outside the area shown just now one could see a tomb standing out from the main cluster of tombs.

Makam ini dipercayai milik kapitan Melayu Melaka kedua, Datuk Shamsuddin bin Datuk Aroom. Sekian.
The tomb is believed to be owned by the second Melaka Malay capitan, Datuk Shamsuddin bin (son of) Datuk Aroom. That's all.

Masjid lama (The old mosque at) Sungai Ramal, Kajang

Assalamualaikum semua. Setelah membuat posting ke 191 di blogspot ini dengan tajuk Alhambra dan seterusnya (Alhambra and so on) : Replika di (Replicas at) Taman Tamadun Islam 2 minggu lalu, akhirnya hari ini baru saya terasa hendak menambah cerita. Mari! :]
Peace be upon you all. After making the 191th posting at this blogspot under the title Alhambra dan seterusnya (Alhambra and so on) : Replika di (Replicas at) Taman Tamadun Islam 2 weeks ago, at last today I felt like adding a new story. Come! :]

Two weeks ago I went for the Jumaat prayers at this mosque, the main mosque of Haji Mat Saman at Kampung Sungai Ramal Luar, Kajang.

The mosque is situated besides the highway which connects the town of Kajang to the North-South Highway.

Although I've been pass this route tens of times, maybe hundreds of times even, as far as I could remember this is the first time I ever visited this mosque.

Then only did I found out this rather beautiful mosque was built in the year 1929.

What was weird was something I realised when I went inside.

Nampak tak apa-apa yang pelik?
Notice anything strange?

Look closely at the position of the line of congregation as shown on the carpet in relation to the position of the walls of the mosque.

Sekian....
Then you would see that the direction of the kiblah (the Ka'abah in Mecca where every Muslim face in prayers) as dictated by the lines on the carpet is different by about 30 per cent than the frontal direction of mosque, maybe because of some miscalculation when the mosque was built 80 years ago. Oh, happy celebrating the Muslim festive day of Aidil Adha this Monday. That's all...

Alhambra dan seterusnya (Alhambra and so on) : Replika di (Replicas at) Taman Tamadun Islam

Bersambung daripada artikel Turki dan Tunisia (Turkey and Tunisia) : Replika di (Replicas at) Taman Tamadun Islam . Kita melompat ke benua Eropah...

Continuing from the article
Turki dan Tunisia (Turkey and Tunisia) : Replika di (Replicas at) Taman Tamadun Islam . We hop on to the continent of Europe...

Kenal bangunan ini?

Recognise this building?

Baca informasinya di sini. Maaf jika ia kurang terang...

Read the information here. Sorry if it's not so clear...

For information, this is a replica of the Alhambra building in Spain.

This building is a symbol of Muslim power and rule over Europe once upon a time.

This is also a symbol of the high civilisation of Islam, a civilisation which was later copied by the West to creat the European enlightened age...

Below in turn is the minaret of Kalyan in Uzbekistan.

Ini pula masjid besar Agadez di Nigeria.

This is the great mosque of Agadez in Nigeria.

Selamat malam! :]

For information, this is the 191th article in this blogspot. And so I will rest from writing anything here for some period. Good night! :]
