Istana (palace of) Bandar

Sekian...
On the recent Saturday 13th December, I went to Jugra in Selangor to visit some historical places in and around it. Among it is the Istana (palace of) Bandar which was built by the 5th Sultan (ruler) of Selangor, Sultan Alaeddin (ruled 1898-1938). Here let me put some pictures of the palace without any comment ya. That's all...

Makam (tomb of) Panglima Mat Berani, Pagoh...

Recently, I also visited the tomb of an olden Malay warrior known by the name Panglima (a warrior of high status) Mat Berani (not real name but called Mat Berani because of his bravery, "Berani" being the Malay word for brave).

This tomb is situated alongside the Muar river around Pagoh, Johor. For information, Panglima Mat Berani is a warrior who came from Pahang and died while assisting the Melaka Malay soldiers fighting against a Portuguese attack when Sultan Mahmud Shah was forced to retreat to Pagoh in the year 1511.
Makam beliau ditanda dengan batu nesan Aceh. Ini menandakan beliau bukan calang-calang orang. Kain kuning pula menandakan kaitan diraja...
His tomb is marked with Aceh-type gravestones. This shows that he is not any Tom, Dick and Harry. The yellow clothings further signifies ties with royalty.

Sekian...
I took the opportunity to correct a bit the position of the yellow clothings available. I removed the newest yellow clothes which have been tied around the foot section to the head gravestone. That's all...

Batu nesan Aceh di (Aceh gravestones in) Bukit Beruang, Melaka

OK. Mari!
OK. Come the time to make some new stories for my blogspots. Come!

About 10 days ago, on the way back for holiday in Muar, I stopped at Bukit Beruang, Melaka.

My purpose was to look for a Muslim burial ground containing a number of Aceh gravestones, a type of olden gravestone that is only used by Malay nobility and royalty.

Thank God, after looking for something I managed to find it.

Lihat bentuk batu nesan yang ada ini...

Look at the gravestones available here...

The gravestones here are believed to belong to family members and descendants of Datuk Aroom, the first Malay capitan (local leader) who headed the Malay community in Melaka during the time of Dutch rule (1641-1824)

Some 200 metres outside the area shown just now one could see a tomb standing out from the main cluster of tombs.

Makam ini dipercayai milik kapitan Melayu Melaka kedua, Datuk Shamsuddin bin Datuk Aroom. Sekian.
The tomb is believed to be owned by the second Melaka Malay capitan, Datuk Shamsuddin bin (son of) Datuk Aroom. That's all.
