Rumah dengan bentuk lidah terjulur di Kuala Selangor (House with tounge-like shape hanging down at Kuala Selangor)

Actually before I visited the tombs I went to see this house first.

This house which could be seen from besides the road before Kampung Kuantan (from the direction of Batang Berjuntai) has one unique feature, carvings of the shape which I like to say as tounges hanging down the corners of the roof.

For information this shape is normally seen only in Perak also parts of the states of Kedah, Pulau Pinang and Perlis. It can also be found in Sabak Bernam which is situated inside the state of Selangor but this is the first time I saw it in the district of Kuala Selangor.

Makam-makam bertanda batu di Kampung Kuantan (Tombs marked by stones at Kampung Kuantan)

Bersambung dari Makam (Tomb of) Tok Laut, Kuala Selangor.
Continued from Makam (Tomb of) Tok Laut, Kuala Selangor.

At (village of) Kampung Kuantan which is also situated in the district of Kuala Selangor in turn we were shown a number of old tombs marked by stones.

Dipercayai ia juga milik pendatang Bugis bertaraf bangsawan.
It is believed that it also belong to Bugis migrants of noble status.

Di sini terdapat 6 atau 7 makam.
Here lies 6 or 7 tombs.

Not all locals realise the existence of these tombs which are considered as having magical powers.

Makam (Tomb of) Tok Laut, Kuala Selangor

This recent Thursday we went to a rural area in the district of Kuala Selangor and was shown this old tomb.

This tomb is known as the "kubur panjang" (long grave), as the distance between its 2 tombstones is no less than 9 feet.

According to a story by a local the owner of the tomb is a Bugis royal who brought himself to Selangor around 200 years ago. His ship was capsized at the estuary of the Selangor river before he was found still alive. That is why he is known as Tok Laut (the elder from the sea).

Masjid Jamek (Main mosque of) Kuala Selangor

Petang tadi saya singgah di Masjid Jamek Kuala Selangor.
This afternoon I made a stop at the main mosque of Kuala Selangor.

Lihat artikel lama Masjid pekan (The town mosque of ) Kuala Selangor.
Don't confuse this mosque with the town mosque of Kuala Selangor. This mosque is situated at the new town section while the town mosque is located in the (much smaller) old town. Look at the old article Masjid pekan (The town mosque of ) Kuala Selangor.

I have come to this mosque only once or twice before this. Even then it was a number of years ago. This time, I felt as if there is a similarity to the Hassanil Bolkiah mosque in Brunei. Similarity in what way? Maybe you can make the comparison yourself soon. God willing starting end of this week or next week I will feature articles on mosques and tombs also other interesting places seen in a visit to Brunei made before the (Muslim holy fasting) month of Ramadhan.

Kita lihat ke dalam masjid....
Let us have a look inside the mosque...

Ia juga dipanggil Masjid Jamek Sultan Ibrahim sempena nama Sultan Selangor kedua.
It is also called the main mosque of Sultan Ibrahim in conjunction with the name of the second Sultan of Selangor.
