Fort Cornwallis, Pulau Pinang

OK.
OK. If I were to follow hatred towards the colonialists then I don't want to feature this place. But the turn as in the picture file points to it while my gut instinct says there must be wisdom behind this. So continued from Makam (Tomb of) Tuanku Syed Hussein Aidid, I present the 555th article in this blogspot.

From Lebuh Aceh I headed to Padang Kota (literally the field of the fort) where lies an old fort built by the English which is called Fort Cornwallis.

Kota ini dibina selepas wakil Inggeris, Francis Light berjaya mendapatkan Pulau Pinang dari Sultan Kedah 1786 Masihi.
This fort was built by the English representative, Francis Light after succesfully getting Pulau Pinang from the Sultan of Kedah 1786 AD.

Saya tak pasti apakah ia binaan baru ataupun lama.
Among the things situated inside is this light house building. I am not sure if it is a new building or an old one.

Let the location of Fort Cornwallis be shown inside the map of Pulau Pinang.

Rapat ke Georgetown.
Zooming in to Georgetown.

Perhatikan bagaimana bentuk kota...
Pay attention to how the fort is shaped...
