Surau (Small praying hall of) Al-Attas, Johor Bahru

Masuk ke Johor Bahru kami singgah ke bangunan ini.
Entering Johor Bahru we stopped by at this building.


Ia kelihatan seperti sebuah masjid lama.
It looks like an old mosque.




Bila dah pergi dekat baru saya tahu ia adalah Surau Al-Attas, dinamakan sempena satu keluarga Arab yang terkenal.
When I went near then only I know it is the Surau (small praying hall of) Al-Attas, named after a famous Arab family.

    some history about this surau..
    its actually the first masjid build in Johor Bahru in 1886. 2nd in Malaysia. When they build Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar, they turn this masjid into a surau to get more people to go to Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar. Al Hamdulillah! Thank you for visiting!

    dibina oleh Habib Hasan bin Ahmad Al-Attas (madrasah alattas. masjid sudah berusia 144 tahun. hol 85 tahun Habib Hasan akan diadakan di masjid ini tahun ini

    Surau ni dah dirobohkan dan digantikan dengan masjid yg lebih besar, Masjid AlAttas. Sekitar tahun 80an, pernah bbrp kali singgah solat sementara nak naik bas distesen bas Jalan Trus (stesen bas dah dipindahkan ke Larkin sekitar tahun 90an). JB dah byk berubah, byk dah dihilangkan, Menara Johor Bahru, pantai Lido dll. Semua tinggal kenangan...
