Tidak jauh dari masjid ada sebuah bukit kecil. Naik ke atasnya dan kelihatanlah tempat ini.
Not far from the mosque there is a small hill. Go up it and could be seen this place.

Ada sebuah tanah perkuburan yang agak eksklusif.

There is a burial ground which is rather exclusive.

Terserlah adalah makam ini.

Outstanding is this tomb.

Ia adalah makam seorang tokoh yang dikenali sebagai Tuanku Tambusai.

It is the tomb of a figure called Tuanku Tambusai.

Lahir 1784 di daerah Tambusai dalam Rokan, Sumatera di Indonesia sebelum wafat 1882 pejuang kebebasan ini banyak menyusahkan penjajah Belanda.

Born 1784 in the district of Tambusai inside Rokan, Sumatera in Indonesia before passing away 1882 this freedom fighter had created a lot of trouble against the colonialist Dutch.

Tetapi beliau dan rakan-rakan seperjuangannya akhirnya terkepong oleh Belanda.

But he and his comrade in arms where finally cornered by the Dutch.

Tuanku Tambusai dapat meloloskan diri ke Seremban, Negeri Sembilan lalu menghabiskan sisa usianya di sini.

Tuanku Tambusai managed to pass through and escaped to Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and thus finished the rest of his living years here.

Selasa sampailah masa untuk kembali ke rumah kami. Masuk sebentar ke bandar Seremban menuju ke Rasah lalu terlihat masjid agak comel ini.

Tuesday came the time to return to our own house. Entered a while the town of Seremban headed for Rasah and saw this rather cute mosque.

Namanya Masjid jamek Dato' Bandar Haji Ahmad.
It's name is Masjid jamek (main mosque of) Dato' Bandar Haji Ahmad.

Makam (Tomb of) Tok Bentayan?

Kita beralih ke sejumlah tempat yang baru sahaja dilawati beberapa hari lalu.
We move to a number of places which have just been visited a few days ago.

Hujung minggu baru ini saya kembali ke kampung ibu di Muar lalu mengambil peluang menziarah makam ini.

The recent weekend I returned to my mother's native village in Muar and took the chance to visit this tomb.

Walaupun saya sudah sampai 2-3 kali sebelum ini, baru seminggu sebelumnya saya mendapat kepastian dari seorang rakan bahawa yang disemadikan adalah seorang tokoh yang dikenali sebagai Tok Bentayan.

Although I have been here 2-3 times before this, it's just a week before that I got confirmation from a friend that the person laid to rest here is a figure known as Tok Bentayan.

Bentayan adalah nama lama kawasan sekitar ini. Masih ada sebuah sungai kecil berdekatan bernama Sungai Bentayan yang mengalir masuk ke Sungai Muar cuma 1-2 km dari sini. Panggilan Tok Bentayan menandakan beliau orang besar sini dahulukala. Sebuah salasilah menyatakan nama sebenar beliau sebagai Sayyid Hussin @ Hashim Jamalulail yang datang dari Iraq abad ke 17 Masihi.

Bentayan is the old name of the area around here. There still is a small river nearby called Sungai (river of) Bentayan which flows into the Muar river just 1-2 km from here. The calling Tok (literarily the elder of) Bentayan connotates him as an important person here of olden times. A genealogical chart mentioned his real name as Sayyid Hussin @ Hashim Jamalulail who came from Iraq 17th century AD.

Ini nampaknya adalah makam isteri beliau. Saya tidak tahu namanya.

This looks like the tomb of his wife. I do not know her name.

Salasilah sama menyebut Tok Bentayan sebagai moyang kepada ibu kepada seorang tokoh dipanggil Tok Tenang yang sangat terkenal di Segamat abad ke 18. Rujuk Makam (Tomb of) Tok Tenang. Berpandukan pada salasilah itu Tok Bentayan nampaknya segenerasi dengan pembuka Lenga di Muar, Sheikh Abdullah Sabihu yang dikenali sebagai Moyang Lenga. The same genealogical chart mentioned Tok Bentayan as the great-grandfather to the mother of a figure called Tok Tenang which was very famous in Segamat in the 18th century. Guided by that chart Tok Bentayan looks like of the same generation to the person who opened up Lenga in Muar, Sheikh Abdullah Sabihu who is also knowned as Moyang Lenga.
