Makam (Tomb of) Ja Tirom

Salam semua.
Peace be upon you all. As it is on 28th August till 4th September me and family had made a trip round Aceh and north Sumatera. Today, 8 days after returning to Malaysia I want to start sharing stories on places visited.

Because of changing flight schedule from 10 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon followed by further delays we arrived in Aceh when there was only over an hour before night time. This circumstance led us to arrive at a tomb in Lhoong, 60 km from the airport and 50 km from Banda Aceh at 10 o'clock night local time.

Ia dikenali sebagai makam Ja Tirom. Ja membawa makna orang tua, datuk. Tirom adalah tiram.
It is known as the tomb of Ja Tirom. Ja means old man, grandfather. Tirom means oysters.

According to the stories Ja Tirom refers to a preacher from Turkey named Sheikh Habib Solihin. He came to Aceh by ship but the ship sank and he was left long in the ocean.

Keluar daripada laut badan beliau didapati dipenuhi tiram. Itu yang membawa pada panggilan Ja Tirom.
Coming out of the sea his body was found to be full of oysters. That led to the calling Ja Tirom.

This is said to have happened hundreds of years ago. The shape of the tombstones which according to researchers are aged at least 500 years confirmed the said time line. It's just what is strange is that he is said to have been in the sea for 3 and a half centuries long!
