Sampai ke bandar Kuala Pilah saya terus mencari masjid ini.

Upon arriving at the town of Kuala Pilah I immediately looked for this mosque.

Dipanggil Masjid Tok Muar ia dikatakan adalah masjid terawal di bandar ini.

Called Masjid (mosque of) Tok Muar it is said to be the earliest mosque in this town.

Ada mengatakan ia dibina tahun 1900, ada kata lebih awal.

Yang pasti ia diberi nama sempena seorang tokoh yang dikenali sebagai Dato’ Muar Bongkok Abdul Malik.

What is sure it was built to commemorate a figure who was known as Dato’ Muar Bongkok Abdul Malik.

Beliau dikatakan adalah Penghulu Luak Ulu Muar yang ke-7 dan hidup pertengahan abad ke-19 Masihi.

He is said to be the 7th Penghulu Luak (traditional district head) of Ulu Muar and lived in the middle of the 19th century AD.
