Kediaman (Residence of) Raja Bilah

Di sebelah istana terdapat rumah kayu ini.
Beside the palace there is this wooden house.

It could be accessed from the brick building of the palace via an opening...

Di sinilah Raja Bilah menetap sambil mentadbir Papan.
This is where Raja Bilah resided while administrating Papan.

Istana cuma menjadi tempat bertemu masyarakat juga mengadakan majlis rasmi.
The palace was just the place to meet the community and also for holding public functions.

Continuing from the Makam (Tomb of) Raja Bilah, Papan.

At another part of Papan but actually close to the burial ground lies a big house which was built and completed by Raja Bilah in the year 1896.

It is also known as Istana Raja Bilah. This could be because it is a big house and its own is of kingly status at least to the community he led especially the Mandailing people.

Saya pernah ke sini sekali 8 tahun lalu. Lihat Rumah (House of) Raja Bilah.
I have been here once 8 years ago. Look at Rumah (House of) Raja Bilah. After some time it was restored by the Heritage Department and was gazetted as a heritage building.

But before I did not have the chance to go inside. Now only I had it...

Makam (Tomb of) Raja Bilah, Papan

Among those laid to rest here is head of the Mandailing people named Raja Bilah.

He is said to have worked on the tin mines of Papan and around since the year 1875 and became the chief of Papan in the year 1882.

Lihat Makam (Tomb of) Raja Billah, Kampung Sempalit.
But there are those who said he then migrated to Raub, Pahang where he passed away and was laid to rest. Look at Makam (Tomb of) Raja Billah, Kampung Sempalit.

Tanah perkuburan Islam (Muslim burial ground of) Papan, Perak

Salam semua.
Peace be upon you all. There is a bit sharing from a stop in Perak less than 3 weeks ago.

Petang Selasa 1 September 2020.
Tuesday afternoon 1st September 2020. On the way from the north to return home we stopped by the small town of Papan near Ipoh and went to this Muslim burial ground.

Kedudukannya agak tersorok. Ia menempatkan jasad sejumlah penduduk Papan sejak ia menjadi satu pusat penting perlombongan bijih timah sekitar seabad lalu.
Its location is rather obscure. It houses the remains of a number of the people of Papan since it was an important centre of tin mining around a century ago.

Namun setelah beberapa dekad perlombongan bijih timah tidak lagi penting lalu Papan terkesan.
However after a few decades tin mining was no more important and Papan was affected.

The populace migrated to other places and thus this burial ground is no more in use...
