Pintu Khop, jalan masuk ke nikmat duniawi (entrance to worldly pleasures)

At one park area at the centre of Banda Aceh there lies a monument which is called the Pintu Khop.

Sekitar 400 tahun lalu, ia pernah menjadi pintu yang membataskan kawasan istana dengan taman permainan diraja!
Around 400 years ago, it was the gates which marked the boundaries between the palace compound and the royal leisure garden!

Pintu (the Malay world for door) Khop is a relic from a garden which is said to have been exquisitely built with the help of expert craftsmen brought in from varied parts of the world.

It is not just choice of plants cultivated and arranged in such a way to form a garden of extraordinary beauty. Even the river which flows through the garden was reshaped, furnished with whatever stones necessary to make it an image of paradise on earth.

It is also the place for the Sultan to play around romantically with his queen. Thus this garden is known as Taman (garden of ) Ghairah (passionate desires)!

Sekian! :]
The garden which is the private rest area for the royal family spread out rather far. Look at the bridge which could be seen in the background. Behind it one could see a royal playground known as the Gunongan. Look at the earlier article called Gunongan... . Bear in mind the Gunongan is situated at a location which is still halfway down the garden's lengths. That's all! :]

Makam (tomb of) Sultan Malikus Salih!

Continued from Masjid (Mosque of) Baitul Mannan, Idi...
Bersambung daripada Masjid (Mosque of) Baitul Mannan, Idi...

From Idi we moved on some 80 km to the north-west, almost 2 hours journey to Geudong where there exist the tomb which I most like to visit in Aceh, that is the tomb of Sultan Malikus Salih.

For information his majesty was the founder of the twin kingdoms of Samudera and Pasai which was once the main centre for propagating Islam to the whole of the Malay world. Sultan Malikus Salih is said to have passed away in the year 1297 AD, more than a century before the appearance of the Sultanate of Melaka as written in history books. According to the story, his majesty received the mandate to rule from the Sharif that is the king of Mekah. In fact the Sultan got the support of Rasulullah SAW through a dream and a will from the Prophet!

Di sebelah makam baginda terdapat makam Sultan Malikul Zahir, katanya anakanda baginda...
Besides his majesty's tomb lies the tomb of Sultan Malikul Zahir, said to be his majesty's son...

Sekian...
Here I would like to take the opportunity to put for prosperity a picture of me also wife and our host in Aceh, Kak Ann (in the middle). A few more pictures will be made into a story at the blogspot CATATAN SI MERAH SILU ya. That's all...

Masjid (Mosque of) Baitul Mannan, Idi...

From Perlak we move on some 20 km north to the town of Idi and stopped at this big mosque...

Our real intention was to visit someone who lives somewhere around this mosque...

Since it was already the time of Maghrib, we then entered inside to do our prayers...

Pandangan dalam kubah...
The view of the inside of the dome...

Selepas bersolat kami pun bertanyakan jemaah di manakah rumah orang yang ingin kami cari...
After praying we then asked the congregation where is the house of the person we were looking for...

As it turned out the person we're looking for is one of the imam (congregation prayer leader) of the mosque. But he wasn't on duty then...

Baru saya teringat nama masjid!
Whatever we managed to meet him at his house. Oh, luckily I took the picture above. Only now do I remember the name of the mosque!
