Makam (Tomb of) Mbah Periuk

This in turn is written on the night of 1st Ramadhan (Muslim fasting month). Continued from Masjid (Mosque of) Istiqlal, Jakarta.

Malam hari kami ke Tanjung Periuk yang terletak di pinggir utara Jakarta untuk ke tempat ini.

At night we went to Tanjung Periuk which is located at the northern fringe of Jakarta to get to this place.

Ia adalah makam seorang manusia yang dikenali sebagai Mbah Periuk.

It is the tomb of a person known as Mbah Periuk.

Berasal dari keluarga Al-Haddad dan hidup abad ke 18 beliau dikira sebagai wali besar di sekitar Jakarta.

Originating from the Al-Haddad family and lived in the 18th century he is counted as a major saint around Jakarta.

Al-Fatihah untuk Mbah Periuk atau nama sebenarnya, Habib Hassan bin Muhammad Al-Haddad.

Al-Fatihah (recital of the opening verse of the Al-Quran) for Mbah Periuk or his real name, Habib Hassan bin Muhammad Al-Haddad.

Masjid (Mosque of) Istiqlal, Jakarta

Assalamualaikum. Sempena hari ini Jumaat dan malam nanti akan masuk 1 Ramadhan saya rasa elok ditunjukkan sebuah masjid besar di Indonesia.

Peace be upon you all. As today is a Friday and at night we will enter the 1st of Ramadhan (Muslim fasting month) I feel it is good to show this big mosque in Indonesia.

Isnin 7 Mei 2012, kami singgah di Masjid Istiqlal yang terletak di tengah bandar raya Jakarta.

Monday 7th May 2012, we stopped by at Masjid (mosque of) Istiqlal which is situated at the centre of the city of Jakarta.

Rupanya seperti pejabat kerajaan yang bertingkat-tingkat.

Its look is like a multi-level government office.

Ia dibuat begitu agar dapat menampung sehingga 200,000 jemaah! Untuk pengetahuan Masjid Istiqlal adalah masjid yang terbesar di Asia Tenggara.

It was made that way so that it can support up to 200,000 congregation members! For information the Masjid Istiqlal is the biggest mosque in South-East Asia.

Menara masjid terletak jauh di satu sudut.

The tower of the mosque is situated far at one corner.

Ini pula kubah dilihat daripada bahagian serambi terbuka.

Dari makam kami ke masjid.

From the tombs we went to a mosque.

Namanya Masjid At-Taqwa di Utan Kayu.

It's name is Masjid (mosque of) At-Taqwa at Utan Kayu.

Ia adalah masjid pertama kami ziarahi di bandar raya Jakarta.

It is the first mosque we visited in the city of Jakarta.

Makam Sultan terakhir Aceh dan orang-orangnya (Tomb of the last king of Aceh and his men)

Peace be upon you all. Returning to the story on the island of Jawa.

Ahad 6 Mei 2012. Kami sampai ke bandar raya Jakarta lalu pergi ke tanah perkuburan Islam di Kemiri.

Sunday 6th May 2012. We reached the city of Jakarta and then went to an Islamic burial ground in Kemiri.

Di sini ada makam beberapa orang Aceh.

Here lies the tombs of a number of people of Aceh.

Paling utama adalah ini...

The main one is this...

Ia milik Sultan Muhammad Daud yang memerintah Aceh 1874 tetapi dipaksa turun takhta oleh Belanda 1903. Baginda mangkat dalam buangan di Jakarta 1939.

It belongs to Sultan Muhammad Daud who ruled Aceh 1874 but was forced to abdicate the throne by the Dutch 1903. His majesty passed away in exile in Jakarta 1939.

Ini pula adalah makam adinda baginda Tuanku Putih.

This in turn is the tomb of his majesty's younger sister Tuanku Putih.

Walaupun orang Aceh yang disemadikan di sini ada yang lahir lama selepas Sultan Muhammad Daud, rasanya mereka ada kena-mengena juga.

Although among the Aceh people here there were those who were born long after Sultan Muhammad Daud was exiled , I feel they did were connected.
