Tempat seterusnya kami lawati adalah makam Sheikh Yusuf.

The next place we visited is the tomb of Sheikh Yusuf.

Beliau adalah ulamak besar abad ke 17 yang dikatakan bertaraf wali.

He is a major religious master of the 17th century said to be of saintly status.

Atas sebab tertentu beliau memilih untuk duduk di Banten, Pulau Jawa di mana beliau berdakwah. Disebabkan berasal dari Makassar, ulamak ini juga dikenali sebagai Sheikh Yusuf Makassar

Due to certain reasons he chose to stay in Banten, the island of Jawa (Jawa) where he preached religion. Because he originated from Makassar, this religious master is also known as Sheikh Yusuf Makassar. 

Ketika itu Belanda sedang giat cuba menjajah Jawa dan pulau-pulau di sekitarnya. Pengaruh Sheikh Yusuf amat ditakuti Belanda lalu beliau ditangkap dan dibuang ke Sri Lanka kemudian ke Afrika Selatan di mana beliau meninggal dunia tahun 1699. 

At the time the Dutch was very active in trying to colonise Jawa and the islands around it. The influence of Sheikh Yusuf was feared by the Dutch and thus he was captured and banished to Sri Lanka (Ceylon) then to South Africa where he passed away in the year 1699. 

Jasad beliau kemudian dibawa kembali ke Makassar. Inilah makam Sheikh Yusuf.

His remains were later brought back to Makassar. This is it the tomb of Sheikh Yusuf.
