Masjid (Mosque of) Ijabah

Close to the afternoon me and wife walked more than 1 km to look at this mosque.

Turut bersama adalah seorang kawan dan anaknya.
Also with us is a friend and her son.

Masjid ini dipanggil Masjid Ijabah.
This mosque is called Masjid (mosque of) Ijabah.

According to the stories it is here that the Prophet Muhammad SAW once prayed for 3 things of much significance for his people. Imam Muslim (the scholar) narrated the Messenger as saying : " I asked my God three things,, He granted to me two and rejected one. I asked my God not to destroy my people with starvation, He granted it. I asked to Him not to destroy my people with big flood, He (also) granted it. (Then) I asked Him not to make calamity because of dispute among them, He rejected." For information this is the 1,155th article in this blogspot.

Pondok tradisional Arab (Arab traditional hut)

Pagi Jumaat 5 April 2013. Saya dan isteri mengikut rombongan kami ke sebuah ladang kurma (lihat artikel The date plantation of Bani Hashim di blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH) lalu terlihat pondok ini.
Friday morning 5th April 2013. Me and wife followed our group to a date plantation (look at the article The date plantation of Bani Hashim in the blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH) and saw this hut.

It is a traditional Arab hut made using the old way. Building materials for the walls and roof were all taken from date trees.

Masjid Ghamama waktu malam (Ghamama mosque at night)

Selepas solat Asar di Masjid Nabawi (rujuk Masjid (Mosque of) Nabawi) saya mengajak isteri berjalan-jalan melihat beberapa buah masjid berdekatan. Selepas Masjid Ali (rujuk Masjid (Mosque of) Saidina Ali) dan Masjid Abu Bakar (rujuk Masjid (Mosque of) Saidina Abu Bakar) kami lalu di Masjid Ghamama (rujuk  Masjid (Mosque of) Ghamama) .
After the Asar (late afternoon prayer) at Masjid Nabawi (refer Masjid (Mosque of) Nabawi) I asked the wife to go for a walk looking at a number of nearby mosque. After Masjid Ali (refer Masjid (Mosque of) Saidina Ali) and Masjid Abu Bakar (refer Masjid (Mosque of) Saidina Abu Bakar) we passed beside Masjid Ghamama (refer Masjid (Mosque of) Ghamama).

The lights which were on made us want to have a closer look.

Ah. Ia dibuka. Ketika saya datang siang hari sebelumnya ia ditutup.
Ah. It is opened. When I arrived in daylight the previous day it was closed.

Kami pun melihat ke dalam...
We then went to look inside...

Masjid kecil di (Small mosque at) Bir Othman

Bersambung dari Masjid (Mosque of) Qiblatain.

About 450 metres from Qiblatain mosque there exists this small mosque.

It is situated inside an area called Bir Othman.

I was told around here there used to exist a well dug by Saidina Uthman al-Affan, the third caliph of Islam. That's why the area is called Bir Othman.

Masjid (Mosque of) Qiblatain

Ini pula adalah Masjid Qiblatain.
This in turn is Masjid (mosque) Qiblatain.

Qiblatain bermaksud 2 kiblat.
Qiblatain means 2 qiblat (direction of prayers).

Ia dipanggil begitu kerana pernah terjadi Nabi Muhammad SAW memimpin solat menghadap ke satu arah  di barat-laut kemudian berpusing hampir 150 darjah bertukar arah menghadap ke selatan.
It is called thus because it happened once that the Prophet Muhammad SAW led a prayer facing a direction to the north-west and then turned almost 150 degrees changing direction facing to the south.

At first the Muslim people prayed facing the Baitul Maqdis (the site where used to lie the temple of Solomon) in Jerusalem. While doing that prayer the Prophet Muhammad SAW received revelation commanding him to change the prayer direction to Mecca.

Inilah mihrab yang menandakan kiblat sekarang. Dahulu, mihrab lama menghadap Jerusalem turut wujud dalam masjid tetapi ia telah dibuang selepas satu kerja penambahbaikan.
This is it the mihrab (front-most section) which marks the current qiblat (direction of prayer). Before, the old mihrab facing Jerusalem also exists but it was removed after a renovation work.

Makam Saidina Hamzah dan para syuhada Uhud (Tomb of Saidina Hamzah and the martyrs of Uhud)

Outstanding in Uhud is a walled area containing a number of Muslims soldiers who fell down during the battle of Uhud.

Dari hadapan susah untuk melihat ke dalam.
From the front it is hard to look inside.

Still I was shown parts where we can have clear looks from afar...

I was told this is the tomb of Saidina Hamzah, uncle to the Prophet (Muhammad SAW).

He was a fighter who was much respected and feared but at last fell down after a throw of spear made in a stealthy manner.

Also outstanding is an area marking the existence of a number of graves of the martyrs.

Actually there exists graves of many more martyrs around but they are not marked.

Tapak perang Uhud (Site of the battle of Uhud)

Bersambung dari Masjid (Mosque of) Quba.
Continued from Masjid (Mosque of) Quba.

Next we went to a place called Uhud where lies a big hill range called Jabal (hill of) Uhud.

It is the site of the battle of Uhud, the second battle in Islam fighting the party of unbelieving Quraish (a famous tribe) from Mecca.

At the battle site there lies the tombs of a number of Muslim fighters who died martyred, within a walled area.

Lagi ke selatan terdapat bukit kecil tempat pemanah Islam pernah ditempatkan. Lihat artikel Views from the archer's hill at Uhud di blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH..
Further to the south there is a small hill where Muslim archers were placed. Look at the article Views from the archer's hill at Uhud in the blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH.

Masjid (Mosque of) Quba

Masuk hari ke-2 di Madinah...
Entering the 2nd day in Madinah...

Khamis 4 April 2013.
Thursday 4th April 2013. We went out from the hotel riding a bus for a visit session to a number of places around Madinah starting with Masjid (mosque of) Quba.

It is the first mosque built in the history of Islam, right after Prophet Muhammad SAW reached Medina in the event called the Hijrah (migration from Mecca to Medina).

Thus it is also the oldest mosque in the world...
