Abu Ayub al-Ansari dikenali sebagai Eyup Sultan di Turkiye. Setelah mendapat tahu arah sebenar kami pun menuju ke masjidnya.

Abu Ayub al-Ansari is known as Eyup Sultan di Turkiye. After finding out the right direction we headed for the mosque.

Senibinanya lebih kurang sama dengan mana-mana masjid lama di Turkiye.

Its architecture is about the same as any old mosque di Turkiye.

Keistimewaannya adalah ia boleh dikatakan sebagai masjid pertama dibina di Istanbul.

Its speciality is that it could be said to be the first mosque built in Istanbul.

Walaupun Hagia Sophia dikatakan masjid pertama (lihat Hagia Sophia dari luar (from outside)) ia sebenarnya adalah gereja yang ditukar menjadi masjid sejurus selepas Sultan Muhammad al-Fatih menawan kota Constantinople milik kerajaan Rum Timur tahun 1453 lalu menukar namanya menjadi Istanbul.

Even though Hagia Sophia ia said to be the first mosque (look at Hagia Sophia dari luar (from outside)) it is actually a church which was converted into a mosque immediately after Sultan Muhammad al-Fatih conquered the city of Constantinople owned by the kingdom of Eastern Rome in the year 1453 and changed its name to Istanbul.

 

Sedangkan masjid ini dibina dari kosong oleh Sultan Muhammad al-Fatih untuk menghormati Abu Ayub al-Ansari, setelah dapat menemui makam beliau yang sudah lama hilang, pada tahun 1458.

While the mosque was built from zero by Sultan Muhammad al-Fatih to honour Abu Ayub al-Ansari, after his long lost tomb was found, in the year 1458.
