Makam (Tomb of) La Madukelleng

Bersambung dari Benteng (Fort of) Tosora.
Continued from Benteng (Fort of) Tosora.


Kembali ke bandar Sengkang kami kemudian menziarahi makam seorang raja yang dikenali sebagai La Madukelleng.
Returning to the town of Sengkang we then visited the tomb of a ruler known as as La Madukelleng.


Di dalam kompleks terdapat beberapa makam.
Inside the complex there exists a number of tombs.




La Madukelleng pernah menjadi raja Sengkang. Makamnya berbatu nesan bulat.
La Madukkeleng has been the ruler of Sengkang. His tomb has a rounded tombstone.


Sekitar tahun 1740an baginda diangkat menjadi raja tertinggi di dalam kerajaan Wajo' memakai gelaran Arung Matoa Wajo. Kelihatan di sini makam menantu La Madukelleng, seorang raja kerajaan Kutai di Kalimantan.
Around the years 1740s his majesty was elevated to become the highest ruler in the kingdom of Wajo' wearing the title Arung Matoa Wajo. Seen here is the tomb of La Madukelleng's son-in-law, a ruler of the kingdom of Kutai in Kalimantan.

Benteng (Fort of) Tosora



Di sebelah tanah perkuburan terdapat satu kawasan terbuka dengan gundukan tanah.
Besides the burial ground lies an open area with a soil mound.


Saya diberitahu ia adalah tinggalan Benteng Tosora.
I was told these are remains of the fort of Tosora.


Tosora dahulunya adalah ibu kota kerajaan lama Wajo'. Benteng ini pernah dimusnahkan oleh Belanda dalam satu peperangan sekitar 1670. Untuk pengetahuan ini adalah artikel ke 1,199 di blogspot ini.
Tosora was once the capital of the old kingdom of Wajo'. This fort was once destroyed by the Dutch in a battle which happened around 1670. For information this is the 1,199th article in this blogspot.

Seterusnya kami pergi ke bahagian lain desa Tosora.
Next we went to another section of the village of Tosora.


Terdapat tanah perkuburan yang lebih luas.
There exists a bigger burial ground.

Tinggalan masjid lama Tosora (remains of the old mosque of Tosora)



Makam-makam yang kita lihat tadi terletak di hadapan tinggalan sebuah bangunan lama.
The tombs we saw previously are situated in front of the remains of an old building.


Lihat tembok-tembok yang dibuat dari susunan batu.
Look at the walls made from arrangement of stones.


Bangunan ini adalah sebuah masjid lama.
The building is an old mosque.




Saya diberitahu sejarah rasmi menyebut masjid ini dibina tahun 1621.
I was told official history says this mosque was built in the year 1621.




Namun berdasarkan maklumat lain tentang orang yang dipercayai membinanya iaitu Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro, masjid ini mungkin sudah wujud sebelum tahun 1400. Rujuk artikel Makam (Tomb of) Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro.
Still based on other information regarding the person believed  to have built it which is Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro, the mosque could have existed before the year 1400. Refer to the article Makam (Tomb of) Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro.

Ke kanan makam Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro terdapat sebuah makam yang ditanda dengan dua laras meriam...
To the right of the tomb of Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro there lies a tomb marked by two barrels of canon.


Saya diberitahu ia milik seorang raja yang gugur ketika menentang Belanda.
I was told it belongs to a ruler who went down fighting the Dutch.


Pada pagar tertera nama Petta Betteng Lagau.
At the fence is inscribed the name Petta Betteng Lagau.


Sebenarnya di sekitar ini terdapat banyak makam lama.
Actually around here there exists many old tombs.

Makam (Tomb of) Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro

Masuk hari ke-9 perjalanan di Makassar dan Tanah Bugis 3-12 Mei.
Entering the 9th day of the trip to Makassar and Bugis land 3-12 May.


Pagi Sabtu 11 Mei 2013. Selepas bermalam di kota Sengkang kami masuk ke desa Tosora di mana terdapat sejumlah peninggalan lama.
Saturday morning 11 May 2013. After spending the night at the town of Sengkang we entered the village of Tosora where lies a number of old remains.


Antaranya adalah makam Sheikh Jamaluddin Al-Akbar juga dikenali sebagai Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro.
Among it is the tomb Sheikh Jamaluddin Al-Akbar also known as Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro.


Beliau adalah seorang pendakwah besar bertaraf wali berketurunan Nabi Muhammad SAW. Untuk pengetahuan ramai keturunan beliau menjadi para pendakwah besar bertaraf wali, juga raja-raja. Antaranya adalah para Wali Songo yang sangat terkenal di Pulau Jawa juga raja-raja Islam yang pernah memerintah Champa dan Patani dan raja-raja yang masih memerintah Kelantan.
He was a major religious preacher of saintly status descended from Prophet Muhammad SAW. For information many of his descendants became major religious preachers of saintly status, also rulers. Among it are the Wali Songo (the nine saints) which are very famous in the island of Jawa also Muslim rulers who have ruled Champa and Patani and rulers who still ruled Kelantan.


Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro telah mengembara ke merata Alam Melayu demi menyebarkan Islam sebelum meninggal dunia di Sulawesi Selatan. Peliknya orang sini kurang mengenali peranan beliau. Di Tanah Bugis, Sayyid Jamaluddin dianggap datang awal abad ke-17 sedangkan beliau diketahui sudah aktif berdakwah di tempat lain sejak pertengahan abad ke-14 lagi.
Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro have travelled all over the Malay World to spread the message Islam before passing away in Sulawesi Selatan (South Celebes). Strangely the people here hardly knew his role. In the Bugis land, Sayyid Jamaluddin Kubro is considered to have arrived in early 17th century while he is known to have been active preaching at other places since the middle of the 14th century.
