Makam (Tomb of) Panglima Pidi

Bersambung dari Makam (Tomb of) Habib Omar, Melaka.

Continued from Makam (Tomb of) Habib Omar, Melaka.

From the tomb of Habib Omar I climbed Bukit (hill of) Cina to its peak and saw this building.

It is a Muslim burial ground at the peak of a hill covered with graves of non-Muslim Chinese people.

Paling terserlah adalah dua makam panjang.

The most outstanding are two long tombs.

Maklumat yang ada menyebut salah sebuah makam panjang adalah milik Panglima Pidi, seorang pahlawan Aceh yang bersama Sheikh Shamsuddin Sumatrani (lihat Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Shamsuddin Sumatrani ) terkorban ketika Aceh menyerang Portugis di Melaka 1629 Masihi.

The information available says one of the long tombs belong to Panglima Padi, an Aceh warrior who along with Sheikh Shamsuddin Sumatrani (look at Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Shamsuddin Sumatrani ) was killed when Aceh attacked Portuguese in Melaka 1629 AD.

Makam (Tomb of) Habib Omar, Melaka

Setelah membuat artikel Makam (Tombs of) Tok Putih dan (and) Tok Janggut, Pulau Besar, Melaka, Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Ismail, Pulau Besar, Melaka dan Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Shamsuddin Sumatrani baru saya terasa dapat membuat lagi artikel-artikel berdasarkan perjalanan terbaru. Mari.

After making the articles Makam (Tombs of) Tok Putih dan (and) Tok Janggut, Pulau Besar, Melaka, Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Ismail, Pulau Besar, Melaka dan Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Shamsuddin Sumatrani then only I feel I could again make articles based on the latest trip. Come.

Referring to the article Masjid (Mosque of) Panchor, Muar, that very afternoon I left Muar to return to my house. Stopping by at Melaka I went to Bukit Cina (a hill) and saw this building.

The information board available says this is the tomb of Habib Omar. He has family ties with Habib Nuh in Singapura (look at Lawatan terbaru ke makam Tun Habib (Latest visit to the tomb of Tun Habib)) and Panglima (general of) Pidi whose tomb is situated at the peak of Bukit Cina (article to be made after this).

Mari lihat lebih dekat.

Let us have a closer look.

Ada sejumlah makam di sini.

There's a number of tombs here.

Makam Habib Omar.

Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Shamsuddin Sumatrani

Bersambung dari Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Ismail, Pulau Besar, Melaka.

Continued from Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Ismail, Pulau Besar, Melaka.

One more tomb which I've often visited but only now did I realised an article on it hasn't been made in this blogspot is the tomb of Sheikh Shamsuddin Sumatrani.

He is a major religious master in Aceh but passed away in Melaka when Aceh attacked the position of the Portuguese here 1629 AD.

Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Ismail, Pulau Besar, Melaka

Bersambung dari Makam (Tombs of) Tok Putih dan (and) Tok Janggut, Pulau Besar, Melaka.

One more article which should have been made long ago. And when I felt like making it, then only did I realised I haven't taken much pictures of it because I have taken it for granted. Continued from Makam (Tombs of) Tok Putih dan (and) Tok Janggut, Pulau Besar, Melaka.

The main tomb in Pulau Besar, Melaka is situated inside this building.

Inilah makam Sheikh Ismail seorang pendakwah berketurunan Sultanul Awliya Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani. Lihat artikel lama Akhirnya, makam Sultan Malikus Salih waktu siang (At last, tomb of Sultan Malikus Salih at daytime).

This is the tomb of Sheikh Ismail a missionary descended from Sultanul Awliya (king of the saints) Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Jilani. There are parties who believe he came to Melaka in the middle of the 15th century. But I believe he came 200 years earlier and was the person responsible for perfecting the Islamic understanding Sultan Malikus Salih at the kingdom of Samudera-Pasai and installing him. Look at the old article Akhirnya, makam Sultan Malikus Salih waktu siang (At last, tomb of Sultan Malikus Salih at daytime).

Makam (Tombs of) Tok Putih dan (and) Tok Janggut, Pulau Besar, Melaka

This in turn is an article using old pictures. Sometimes we have been to a place so many times that we forgot to make a special article about it.

Not long after stepping down to the main jetty of Pulau Besar (literally the big island although it's not so big in size), Melaka and then walking down the beach heading towards the west could be seen this building.

Di sisi kanannya kelihatan sebuah makam panjangnya, katanya milik seorang yang dipanggil Tok Janggut.
On its right side could be see a long tomb, said to belong to someone called Tok Janggut (literally the bearded elder).

Di sisi kiri pula terdapat sebuah lagi makam panjang, katanya milik orang yang dipanggil Tok Putih.
On the left side in turn there exist another long tomb, said to belong to a person who is called Tok Putih (literally the white elder).

Tok Janggut dikatakan seorang pakar ilmu bela diri, pengawal peribadi kepada Tok Putih. Tok Putih pula dikatakan seorang ulamak, mungkin bekas raja.
Tok Janggut is said to be a martial arts master, the personal bodyguard to Tok Putih. Tok Putih in turn is said to be a master scholar, maybe a former king.

Masjid (Mosque of) Panchor, Muar

From the tomb of Sultan Alauddin I went to Olak Sepam and then to the small town of Panchor and stopped by at this mosque.

Ia mungkin cuma masjid biasa tetapi saya mahu merekodkannya.

It might just be a common mosque but I want it to be recorded.

Mari lihat lebih dekat.

Come let's have a closer look.

Hmm. Nampaknya saya harus ke belakang untuk masuk.

Hmm. Looks like I have to go to the rear to get inside.

Batu-batu nesan di makam Sultan Alauddin Melaka (Tombstones at the tomb of Sultan Alauddin of Melaka)

Rujuk artikel lama Makam Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah di Pagoh (Tomb of Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah in Pagoh).

The next day I went to the tomb of Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah of Melaka which is situated in Pagoh. Refer to the old article Makam Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah di Pagoh (Tomb of Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah in Pagoh). This time I wanted to examine every tombstone available. Thus let it be marked counter-clockwise as shown above. And every face and side of the tombstones would be looked at counter-clockwise...

Menurut setengah pihak batu nesan 1 adalah batu kepala Sultan Alauddin.

According to some parties tombstone 1 is the headstone of Sultan Alauddin.

Sisi kanan.

The right side.

Muka dalam.

Inner face.

Sisi kiri.

Left side.

Batu nesan 2 pula dipercayai sebagai batu nesan kaki Sultan Alauddin. Namun jenisnya kelihatan berlainan dari batu nesan 1.

Tombstone 2 in turn is believed to be the foot tombstone of Sultan Alauddin. But its type looks different from tombstone 1.

Thus there are other parties who believe tombstones 1 and 2 belong to different individuals but after more than 500 years it is thought to come in pairs.

If only someone knows how to read the Khat (artistic) writing and translate it from the Arab language to Malay (or English?) than maybe we can know for sure.

Papan maklumat makam (rujuk artikel The tomb of Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah of Melaka revisited di blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH) ada menyebut pada batu nesan Sultan Alauddin tercatat ayat-ayat berikut :

Tiada Tuhan yang disembah melainkan Allah,

Inilah kubur yang cemerlang almarhum Sultan yang suci,

Sultan Alauddin ibni Sultan Mansur Shah ibni Sultan Muzaffar Shah,

The tomb's information board (refer to the article The tomb of Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah of Melaka revisited in the blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH) do say on the tombstone of Sultan Alauddin is inscribed these sentences : (English translation) :

There is no God but Allah,

This is it the tomb of the excellent deceased Sultan who is pure,

Sultan Alauddin son of Sultan Mansur Shah son of Sultan Muzaffar Shah,

Blessings and glad tidings of Allah hopefully in abundance upon your soul o ye chosen saint of Allah.

But it does not say which tombstone has these inscriptions.

This in turn is tombstone 3 which is believed to be the footstone of a wife of Sultan Alauddin.

At least it looks similar to this, tombstone 4 which is believed to be the headstone of the Sultan's wife.

Masjid (Mosque of) Laksamana Hang Tuah, Duyung, Melaka

This in turn is from the trip to return to my native village in Muar the recent weekend.

Upon reaching the city of Melaka I made a stop at Kampung (village of) Duyung where lies this mosque.

According to the stories Kampung Duyung is the place where the legendary character Laksamana (something like the royal admiral) Hang Tuah grew up more than 500 years ago.

Rujuk pada artikel lama Perigi (well of) Hang Tuah, Masjid (mosque of) Duyung serta (and) Kampung Hulu.

This mosque was known as Masjid Kampung Duyung. Refer to the old article Perigi (well of) Hang Tuah, Masjid (mosque of) Duyung serta (and) Kampung Hulu. It seems it has been renamed as Masjid Jamek Laksamana Hang Tuah recently.

Mari lihat lebih dekat.

Let us have a closer look.

Under this hut there is an old pool.

Menara.

Tower.

Sekarang mari masuk ke dalam.

Now let us go inside.

There'a plaque declaring this mosque as a heritage buildingm when it was still called Masjid Duyung.
