Ia milik Sultan ke 22 Perak, Sultan Abdullah I yang memerintah 1851-1857...

It belongs to the 22nd Sultan of Perak, Sultan Abdullah I who ruled 1851-1857...

Nama penuh baginda Sultan Abdullah Muhammad Shah betul-betul serupa dengan nama Sultan ke 26 Perak, Sultan Abdullah II yang dibuang negeri ke Pulau Seychelles tahun 1877 kerana terlibat dengan pembunuhan Residen pertama British ke Perak, J.W.W. Birch. Sultan Abdullah I juga dikenali sebagai Marhum Durian Sebatang... kerana mangkat dan disemadikan di Kampung Durian Sebatang.

His highness' full name Sultan Abdullah Muhammad is exactly the same as the name of Perak's 26th Sultan, Sultan Abdullah II who was banished to the Seychelles islands in the year 1877 for involvement in the killing of British first resident to Perak, J.W.W. Birch. Sultan Abdullah I is also known as Marhum (the deceased of) Durian Sebatang... because he died and was laid to rest at Kampung (village of) Durian Sebatang.

Satu lagi tempat dan watak (atau watak-watak?) yang sudah disentuh beberapa kali di blogspots saya yang lain tetapi baru kini tergerak membuat artikel tentangnya di sini...
One more personality (or personalities?) which have been touched a number of times at my other blogspots but only now I'm moved to write an article on it here...

Sekitar 6 km dari bandar Teluk Intan terdapat 2 bangunan makam ini...

Some 6 km from the town of Teluk Intan there lie these 2 tomb buildings...

Namun tumpuan sering diberikan kepada yang sebelah kiri ini...
Still attention is often given to the one on the left here...

Ini kerana ia dikatakan milik satu watak legenda Perak yang dipanggil Keramat Kuala Bidor. Watak ini turut disamakan dengan Nakhoda Hitam, Laksamana pertama Perak yang muncul semasa Sultan ke 13 Perak, Sultan Muzaffar III memerintah 1728-1754.

This is because it is said to belong a Perak legendary character who is called Keramat (the saintly figure of) Kuala Bidor. This character is said to be same as Nakhoda Hitam, the first Laksaman (royal admiral) of Perak who appeared when Perak's 13th Sultan, Sultan Muzaffar II ruled 1728-1754.

Makam di sebelah kanan juga dikatakan milik seseorang yang bertaraf keramat namun tidak disebut siapa...

The tomb on the right is also said to belong to someone of saintly status but yet it is not mentioned who...

Mengingatkan cerita almarhum Nenek, ibu kepada ayah saya bahawa Keramat Kuala Bidor hidup sebelum Perak mempunyai raja saya percaya bahawa beliau dan Nakhoda Hitam adalah 2 watak yang berbeza. Ini kerana Perak diketahui mula mempunyai raja sejak Sultan Muzaffar I muncul tahun 1528 sedangkan Nakhoda Hitam pula muncul 200 tahun kemudian.

Remembering stories from my late Nenek, mother to my father that Keramat Kuala Bidor lived before Perak has a king I believe that he and Nakhoda Hitam were 2 distinct charaters. This is because Perak is known to have a king since Sultan Muzaffar I showed up in the year 1528 while Nakhoda Hitam in turn came to sceen 200 years later.

Maka itu saya percaya makam yang inilah milik Nakhoda Hitam. Namun saya juga percaya beliau dan Keramat Kuala Bidor memang orang yang sama tetapi pernah muncul dalam 2 zaman berbeza! Perkara begini tidaklah mustahil bagi orang yang bertaraf wali. Dengan kuasa Allah, orang yang sama pernah muncul 1,000 tahun lalu untuk dikenali sebagai Keramat Kuala Bidor. Beliau turut muncul 700 tahun kemudian lalu dikenali sebagai Nakhoda Hitam.

Thus I believe that this is the tomb which belongs to Nakhoda Hitam. But I also believe that he and Keramat Kuala Bidor could be the same person but have appeared in 2 different eras! Such a thing is not impossible for those who have achieved saintly status. By the power of Allah, the very same person has appeared 1,000 years ago to be known as Keramat Kuala Bidor. He also appeared 700 years later and became known as Nakhoda Hitam.

Maka itu Keramat Kuala Bidor dan Nakhoda Hitam juga boleh dikatakan orang yang sama. Agaknya sebab itu makam di kiri dikatakan miliknya. Namun dari sudut lain, 2 nama ini juga boleh dikatakan 2 orang yang berbeza. Mungkin sebab itu wujud makam yang di kanan...

Thus Keramat Kuala Bidor and Nakhoda Hitam could also be said to be the same person. Maybe that is why the tomb to left is said to be his. Still from a different angle, the 2 names could also be said to point out to 2 different persons. Perhaps that is why the tomb to the right exists.

Makam (tomb of) Sultan Iskandar Zulkarnain

Dalam banyak-banyak makam Sultan Perak, makam Sultan ke 15 iaitu Sultan Iskandar Zulkarnain (memerintah 1754-1765) ternyata paling susah untuk dilawati. Bukan sahaja kedudukannya tidak dapat dicapai melalui kenderaan, bangunan makam yang sudah tertutup teruk oleh semak dan rimba menghalang saya dari mengambil gambar yang terang. Di bawah adalah gambar makam Sultan Iskandar dari sebuah Website kerajaan negeri. Kalau tak salah ia diambil lebih 20 tahun lalu.

Among the many tombs of Sultans of Perak, the tomb of the 15th Sultan which is Sultan Iskandar Zulkarnain (ruled 1754-1765) turned out to be the most difficult to visit. Not only its location is unaccesible by any vehicle, the tomb building has been badly covered by thick foliage and secondary jungle preventing me from taking clear pictures. Tujuan sebenar saya ke Kampung Bandar adalah untuk mendapatkan bot menyeberangi Sungai Perak ke makam ini.

The real reason I went to Kampung Bandar was to get a bot to cross the Perak river to this tomb.

Ia adalah makam Sultan Shahabuddin, Sultan ke 21 Perak (memerintah 1830-1851).

This is the tomb of Sultan Shahabuddin, the 21st Sultan of Perak (ruled 1830-1851).

Kedudukannya yang begitu terpencil menyebabkan ia tidak dapat dicapai melalui darat. Jarak sebenarnya cuma sekitar 1 km sahaja ke selatan makam Sultan Alauddin Mansur Iskandar Muda. Its location is so remote making it unaccesible by land. Its actual distance is just 1 km or so to the south of the tomb of Sultan Alauddin Mansur Iskandar Muda. Still because the route connecting both tombs has fallen down into the waters I was forced to drive around 25 km to Kampung Bandar before getting a boat to get here. Masjid Bandar dan makam Sheikh Muhammad Taib (The Bandar mosque and tomb of Sheikh Muhammad Taib)

Merujuk pada artikel Masjid (Mosque of) Muhammediah, Kampung Ayer Mati. Kesilapan menyangkakan Masjid Kampung Ayer Mati sebagai Masjid Kampung Bandar 2 tahun lalu menyebabkan saya berhenti mencari Masjid Bandar.
Referring to the article Masjid (Mosque of) Muhammediah, Kampung Ayer Mati. The mistake of assuming the mosque of Kampung Ayer Mati as the mosque of Kampung Bandar 2 years ago made me stopped looking for the Bandar mosque.


Apabila menyedari kesilapan itu saya pun membuat artikel Masjid Bandar yang sebenar (the real Bandar mosque) berdasarkan gambar-gambar yang diberikan seorang kawan.

Upon realising that mistake I then made the article Masjid Bandar yang sebenar (the real Bandar mosque) based on the pictures given by a friend.

Pada 11 April 2010 baru saya sendiri menjejakkan kaki ke sini...

Sayangnya pintunya terkunci rapat. Tak dapatlah kita melihat ke dalam.

Namun lebih istimewa adalah apa yang terdapat di luar hadapan.

Still what is more special is what is available out front.

Di situlah terdapat makam seorang ulamak besar bernama Sheikh Muhammad Taib.

Here lies the tomb of a major master scholar named Sheikh Muhammad Taib.

Beliau sangat rapat dengan keluarga diraja Perak. Seorang anak perempuannya berkahwin dengan Raja Muda Musa anakanda kepada Sultan ke 23, Sultan Jaafar. Dari perkahwinan ini terbitlah Sultan ke 31, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah.

He is very close to the Perak royal family. A daughter of his married Raja Muda Musa who is the son to the 23rd Sultan, Sultan Jaafar. From this marriage was issued the 31st Sultan, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah.

Masjid (Mosque of) Muhammediah, Kampung Ayer Mati

Lebih kurang 2 tahun lalu saya telah ke masjid ini tetapi menyangkakannya sebagai Masjid Kampung Bandar. Kemudian baru saya tahu ia adalah masjid untuk Kampung Ayer Mati. Untuk melihat lebih banyak gambar lihat artikel lama Masjid (mosque of) Bandar, Perak?.
About 2 years ago I went to this mosque thinking it was the mosque of Kampung Bandar. Later did I knew that it is actually the mosque for a village called Kampung Ayer Mati. To look at more pictures look at the old article Masjid (mosque of) Bandar, Perak?.

Masjid lama Kampung Gajah waktu siang (The old mosque of Kampung Gajah during daytime)

Ini adalah masjid lama Kampung Gajah. Dahulu saya pernah membuat artikel bertajuk Masjid Kampung Gajah (Kampung Gajah Mosque) berdasarkan gambar yang diambil waktu malam. Di sini biarlah diletakkan 2 gambar waktu siang yang diambil dalam perjalanan terbaru saya ke Perak 9-11 April 2010.

Makam (Tomb of) Sultan Alauddin Mansur Iskandar Muda

Dua kilometer ke selatan makam Sultan Abdul Malik terdapat makam Sultan ke 17 Perak...

Two kilometres to the south of the tomb of Sultan Abdul Malik there exist tomb of the 17th Sultan of Perak...

Nama baginda iaitu Sultan Alauddin Mansur Iskandar Muda seperti menggabungkan nama besar 2 orang Sultan Aceh iaitu Sultan Alauddin Mansur (memerintah 1580-1585) dan Sultan Iskandar Muda (memerintah 1607-1636). Adakah kerana baginda memiliki titisan darah keduanya? Untuk pengetahuan Sultan Alauddin Mansur adalah anakanda kepada Sultan ke 2 Perak, Sultan Mansur Shah.

His high highness name which is Sultan Alauddin Mansur Iskandar Muda seemed to combine the names of 2 major Sultans of Aceh which is Sultan Alauddin Mansur (ruled 1580-1585) and Sultan Iskandar Muda (ruled 1607-1636). Is it because his highness has traces of blood from both? For information Sultan Alauddin Mansur is a son of the 2nd Sultan of Perak, Sultan Mansur Shah.

Kedudukan makam ini sangat terpencil, tidak dapat dimasuki kenderaan darat.
The position of this tomb is very remote, not accesible to land vehicles.

Untuk masuk ke sini saya harus menunggang motosikal sebelum berjalan kaki agak jauh menyusuri Sungai Perak.

In order to reach here I have to ride a bike before walking quite a distance along the banks of the Perak river.

Makam (tomb of) Sultan Abdul Malik Mansur Shah

Lebih kurang 2 km ke selatan makam Sultan ke 16 terdapat ini, makam Sultan ke 19.
About 2 km south of the tomb of the 16th Sultan there lies this, tomb of the 19 th Sultan.

Baginda adalah Sultan Abdul Malik Mansur Shah yang memerintah 1806-1818.
He is Sultan Abdul Malik Mansur Shah who ruled 1806-1818.

Baginda dicatatkan sebagai ayahanda kepada Raja Ahmad. Lihat Makam (Tomb of) Raja Ahmad. Namun ada salasilah yang menyebut baginda sebagai ayah mertua pula.

He is recorded as the father to Raja Ahmad. Look at Makam (Tomb of) Raja Ahmad. Still there are genealogies which mention him as the father-in-law instead.

Makam Sultan ke 16 Perak (Tomb of the 16th Sultan of Perak)

Sekitar 1 km dari makam Raja Ahmad, dalam sebuah estet kelapa sawit berdekatan Sungai Perak terdapat pula makam ini...

Around 1 km from the tomb of Raja Ahmad, inside a palm oil estate nearby the Perak river there lies in turn this tomb...

Ia milik Sultan ke 16 Perak, Sultan Mahmud Shah yang memerintah 1765-1773.
It belong to the 16th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Mahmud Shah who ruled 1765-1773.

Sebenarnya terdapat 2 orang lagi Sultan Perak yang bernama Mahmud. Mereka adalah Sultan ke 8, Sultan Mahmud Shah dan Sultan ke 11, Sultan Mahmud Iskandar Shah. Sebab itu saya sengaja memilih tajuk "Makam Sultan ke 16" untuk artikel ini...

Actually there existed 2 more Sultans of Perak with the name Mahmud. They are the 8th Sultan, Sultan Mahmud Shah and the 11th Sultan, Sultan Mahmud Iskandar Shah. That is why I consciously chose the title "Tomb of the 16th Sultan" for this article...

Makam (Tomb of) Raja Ahmad

Di kawasan Pulau Besar, Perak tidak jauh dari jalanraya utama terdapat bangunan makam ini...
At the area of Pulau Besar, Perak not far from the main road there lies this tomb building...


Ia milik Raja Ahmad anakanda kepada Sultan ke 19 Perak, Sultan Abdul Malik Mansur Shah. Raja Ahmad pula adalah ayahanda kepada Sultan ke 23, Sultan Jaafar Muazzam Shah. Lihat artikel lama Makam 2 Muazzam (Tombs of the 2 Muazzams). Adinda Sultan Jaafar, Raja Bendahara Alang Iskandar adalah ayahanda kepada Sultan ke 28, Sultan Idris I yang membuka Bukit Chandan.
It belong to Raja Ahmad son to the 19th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Abdul Malik Mansur Shah. Raja Ahmad in turn was father to the 23rd Sultan, Sultan Jaafar Muazzam Sham. Sultan Jaafar's younger brother, Raja Bendahara Alang Iskandar was father to the 28th Sultan, Sultan Idris I who opened up Bukit Chandan.

Sebenarnya ini adalah makam tanda. Ia didirikan untuk menandakan tempat Raja Ahmad ghaib tanpa berita. Untuk pengetahuan Raja Ahmad dikatakan terjatuh di Kuala Sungai Terus belakang makam. Sungai ini mengalir masuk ke Sungai Perak.

Actually this is a memorial tomb. It was built to point the place where Raja Ahmad disappeared without any news. For information Raja Ahmad is said to have fallen down at the mouth of the Terus river behind the tomb. This river flows into the Perak river.

Makam Puteri Aceh (Tomb of the Aceh princess)

Merujuk pada artikel Latest visit to the tombs of the two Muazzams... di blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH. Di Pulau Juar juga terdapat sebuah makam lama lain.
Referring to the article Latest visit to the tombs of the two Muazzams... di blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH. At Pulau Juar also exists another old tomb.

Sebuah buku rujukan menyatakannya sebagai makam Puteri Aceh, katanya isteri seorang pembesar dari Aceh yang dihantar untuk menjaga hal-ehwal Perak. Untuk makluman Perak pernah berada di bawah pengaruh terus Aceh sekurang-kurangnya sejak 1570an hingga 80 tahun kemudian.

A reference book mentions it as the tomb of Puteri (princess of Aceh), said to be the wife of an official sent to look after the affairs of Perak. For information Perak used to be under direct influence of Aceh at least since 1570s till 80 years afterwards.

Apa yang pasti batu nesan Aceh yang terukir cantik menandakan pemiliknya memang seorang yang bertaraf tinggi.

What is sure the Aceh tombstone beautifully crafted signifies that the owner was indeed a person of high standing.

Masjid (Mosque of) Tok Jabar

Turut terdapat di Kampung Gajah adalah Masjid Tok Jabar...
Also available at Kampung Gajah is the mosque of Tok Jabar...

Ia dinamakan sempena Tok Jabar, juga dikenali sebagai Tok Jabor atau Ngah Jabor, seorang pahlawan Melayu Perak.

It is named after Tok Jabar, also known as Tok Jabor or Ngah Jabor, a Perak Malay warrior.

Untuk pengetahuan Tok Jabor turut terlibat dalam pembunuhan Residen pertama British ke Perak iaitu J.W.W. Birch tahun 1875.

For information Tok Jabor was also involved in the killing of the first British resident to Perak which is J.W.W. Birch in the year 1875.

Namun beliau dapat melepaskan diri dari hukuman sementara mereka yang terlibat dihukum bunuh atau buang negeri...

Still he managed to free himself from punishment while those involved were either sentenced to death or banished overseas...

Menurut ceritanya beliau telah menghilangkan diri tetapi muncul balik di Perak dengan memakai identiti lain.

According to the stories he then disappeared but later came back to Perak using a different identity.

Tiga makam Sultan di Kampung Jawa (Three tombs of Sultans at Kampung Jawa

Di Kampung Jawa yang terletak di dalam daerah kecil Kampung Gajah terdapat bangunan makam ini.

At Kampung Jawa which is situated within the small district of Kampung Gajah there lies this tomb building.

Di sini bersemadinya jasad Sultan ke 11 Perak, Sultan Mahmud Iskandar (memerintah 1653-1720) berserta Sultan ke 12, Sultan Alauddin Mughayat Shah (memerintah 1720-1728).

Here rest the bodies of the 11th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Mahmud Iskandar (ruled 1653-1720) alongside the 12th Sultan, Sultan Alauddin Mughayat Shah (ruled 1720-1728).

Namun seperti di beberapa makam Sultan yang berkongsi kepuk saya tidak dapat memastikan yang manakah milik siapa.

Still just like at a number of Sultan's tombs which shares enclosures I could not determine which one belongs to whom.

Sekitar 50 meter dari makam tadi ada jalan masuk ke makam lain...
About 50 metres from the previous tomb there's a road to another tomb...



Jalan lagi 100 meter dan kelihatanlah ia...
Walk another 100 metres and you could see it...
