Tempat-tempat yang dilawati di Selangor (Places visited in Selangor)
Kota (Fort of) Tanjung Keramat
One more story for the Selangor collection. Pictures are taken from the article The hills at Tanjung Keramat, Kuala Selangor... which was made in the blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH more than 2 years ago.
Setentang dengan bukit kecil tempat makam anak dara (lihat Makam keramat anak dara (Tomb of the sacred virgin)) terletak sebuah bukit lebih besar.
Opposite the small hill with the tomb of the virgin (look at Makam keramat anak dara (Tomb of the sacred virgin)) there lies a bigger hill.
At its foot there is an information board which says here lies the fort of Tanjung Keramat. Because on top the hill there is a fort while the area is situated nearby a cape where lies the tomb of keramat (sacred, mystical, magical) anak dara (virgin)...
Let us go up.
Sebab ia pernah ditawan Belanda lalu dijadikan kota mereka.
Another information board says this hill was also known as Bukit (hill of) Belanda (the Dutch). Because it was once captured by the Dutch and turned into their fort.
Like the fort at Bukit Melawati (look at Kota (Fort of) Melawati, Kuala Selangor) 300 metres south-east most parts here have been destroyed. The way to what is left...
Kawasan kota di puncak bukit...
The fort area on top the hill...
For me the fort remains here are more intereseting than what is available at Bukit Melawati. For information this is the 464th article in this blogspot.
Kota (Fort of) Melawati, Kuala Selangor
Ah. As it turns out there are still some to be added to complete the collection of Selangor stories. These pictures are taken from the article Baru betul-betul melihat Bukit Melawati... made in the blogspot CATATAN SI MERAH SILU Julai 2010.
I have been to Bukit (hill of) Melawati in Kuala Selangor many times but it was only during one day that I was moved to go to its highest parts.
Then only did I knew at this top part lies an open area which used to be part of a fort. Most of the time I only went up to the slightly lower parts in front of the muzium and nearby the light house to play with the monkeys...
Ada sejumlah meriam lama masih terjaga elok.
There are a number of old cannons still well-taken care of.
For information the peak of Bukit Melawati used to be the place of residence for Selangor's 3 earliest Sultans, from the middle of the 18th century to the middle of 19th century AD. That is why a fort was built here...
Di hadapan satu pintu masuk terdapat sebuah batu hampar.
In front of an entrance there lies a bedrock.
Kalau tak salah ia digunakan untuk memancung kepala pesalah.
If not mistaken it is used to behead offenders.
Makam keramat anak dara (Tomb of the sacred virgin)
To complete the collection of stories on Selangor let one more story be made using old pictures... taken from the article Kisah Keramat Anak Dara... made in the blogspot CATATAN SI MERAH SILU January 2009.
At a small hill at one end of the small town of Kuala Selangor could be seen a tomb building.
Dia hilang sebelum majlis perkahwinan. Biar ditambah namanya adalah Rubiah...
The information available says that the tomb is to mark the place a virgin reknown for her good character went missing after she was forced to marry a person she disliked. She disappeared before the wedding ceremony. Let it be added that her name was Rubiah...
She was said to have disappeared into thin air just like that exactly at this site. Still the tomb erected here is similar to places where bodies are laid to rest. This tomb became famous as according to the stories it posseses magical power. The power is associated with the virgin and thus it is venerated as a sacred place.
Masjid (Mosque of) Sultan Salahuddin Aziz Shah, Shah Alam
Let the pictures be used although not so good as it was taken using an old cheap digital camera. If want to take new pictures have to go to Shah Alam 40 km from home while the digital camera possessed now is under repair due to damage sustained while being at Beting Beras Basah more than a month ago.
This is it the mosque of Sultan Salahuddin Shah in Shah Alam which is very famous in Malaysia, maybe also recognised much further on to the whole world.
Named after the Sultan of Selangor of that time (now deceased), it was completed more than 2 decades ago to become the biggest mosque in Malaysia, the second biggest in South East Asia. More interesting it has the biggest dome in the world for any religious building! With a diameter of 170 feet the dome has a height of 300 feet above sea level.
It also has the second highest mosque towers in the world.
Now let us have a closer look at this Selangor state mosque...

Here lies the main praying hall.
Masjid (Mosque of) KLIA, Sepang
OK. Actually I want to put the compilation of links for articles on mosques in Selangor which I have visited. But while reviewing the links did I only realised it looks like I've forgotten to write an article on the mosque of Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Shah in Shah Alam when it is the state mosque and one of the biggest mosque in South East Asia! While going about it I also remembered upon returning from Brunei in August I stopped at the KLIA mosque, Sepang and took some pictures. So let an article be made about it ya... :]
Inilah Masjid KLIA di Sepang atau nama rasminya Masjid Sultan Abdul Samad.
This is it the KLIA mosque in Sepang or its offical name Masjid (mosque of) Sultan Abdul Samad.
Once upon a time I often stopped by at this mosque.
Section under the dome at the entrance.
Mari lihat ke dalam. Let us go inside.
Ada maklumat menyebut ia dirasmikan tahun 2000.
There is information saying it was officiated in the year 2000.
This mosque has a big open lobby at its centre section.
From there only the main dome could be seen clearly.
