Makam 7 orang Sultan di Bukit Chandan (Tombs of 7 Sultans at Bukit Chandan)

OK.
OK. In the article Makam diraja Perak (Perak royal mausoleum) which was made almost 3 years ago I have featured pictures of tombs of 3 Sultans of Perak. Actually there are 4 more tombs of Sultans inside the Perak royal burial grounds at Bukit Chandan. Now let all of it be featured as fruits from my latest visit last month.

Seen here is the tomb of the 28th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Idris I (ruled 1887-1916). His highness was responsible for opening up Bukit Chandan and thus became the first Sultan to be buried here.

Also situated inside the main building is the tomb of his highness son Sultan Abdul Jalil who replaced him. This Sultan ruled until 1918.

At the opposite end of the building lies the tomb of Perak's 30th Sultan, Sultan Alang Iskandar. This younger brother of Sultan Abdul Jalil ruled until the year 1938.

Outside the main building lies the tomb of the 26th Sultan which is Sultan Abdullah II. Although his highness ruled before Bukit Chandan was opened, the event which is the killing of Birch 1875 resulted in him being banished to the Seychelles islands before he was officialy dethroned in the year 1887. Refer back to what has been written in the articles Makam (Tomb of) Daeng Selili and Makam (Tomb of) Laksamana Muhammad Amin. His highness finally passed away in Singapura the year 1922 and thus was laid to rest in Bukit Chandan the same year.

On the opposite side outside there lies in turn the tomb of the 31st Sultan, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah who ruled 1938-1948. Like Sultan Abdullah I, his highness was also a member of royalty from the Teluk Intan side...

Sedikit ke hadapan terdapat makam Sultan seterusnya Sultan Yusuf II. Baginda adalah ayahanda kepada Sultan Perak sekarang, Sultan ke 34, Sultan Azlan Shah.
A bit to the front lies the tomb of the following Sultan, Sultan Yusuf II. His highness was father to the current Sultan of Perak, the 34th Sultan, Sultan Azlan Shah.

On the front lawn of the main building lies the tomb of the 33rd Sultan, Sultan Idris II. His highness was the son of Sultan Alang Iskandar and so the grandson of Sultan Idris I.

Makam (Tomb of) Laksamana Muhammad Amin

Referring to the previous article Makam (Tomb of) Daeng Selili. Also said to be involved in the killing of Birch is Laksamana (something like the royal admiral) Muhammad Amin. Since in my latest visit to this place last month I only took one picture which is the picture above, let us borrow what is available from the article New trip to the North - The Ubudiyah mosque and Perak royal mausoleum revisited... at the blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH, pictures took at the end of 2008.

As it is the tomb is located inside the Perak royal burial grounds, besides the mosque of Ubudiyah at Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar.

Selepas pembunuhan Birch, Laksamana Muhammad Amin ditangkap penjajah Inggeris lalu dibuang negeri ke Pulau Seychelles di perairan Afrika, bersama Sultan Perak ketika itu, Sultan ke 26, Sultan Abdullah II.
After the killing of Birch, Laksamana Muhammad Amin was arrested by the colonialists English and thus banished to the islands of Seychelles at the waters of Africa, along with the Sultan of Perak then, the 26th Sultan, Sultan Abdullah II.

Beliau meninggal dunia di Singapura tahun 1905. Tetapi jenazahnya dikembalikan ke Perak tahun 2006. Untuk maklumat lanjut baca artikel-artikel di bawah:-
He died in Singapura in the year 1905. But his remains was brought back to Perak in the year 2006. For more information read the articles below:-

p/s:
Glad to inform this is the 333 article in this blogspot.

Makam (Tomb of) Daeng Selili

Seberang Sungai Perak hampir menghadap ke Sayong terdapat makam Daeng Selili, seorang Raja Bugis.
Across the Perak river almost facing Sayong there lies the tomb of Daeng Selili, a Bugis king.

His highness came to Perak during the time of the 13th Sultan, Sultan Muzaffar Shah III (ruled 1728-1754). Daeng Selili is said to have become the Mufti (highest religious official) also the Sultan's private bodyguard. He married the Sultan's younger sister resulting in descendants who became the Maharajalela (something like the royal chamberlain) also Temenggung (something like the interior minister) of Perak.

Birch tahun 1875.
Maybe not many people know who is Daeng Selili what more to have knowledge about his much bigger identity in the Bugis land (the Celebes). But I do believe most Malaysian citizens have heard the name Datuk Mahajalela Pandak Lam, a descendant of his highness who was responsible for killing the first English resident to Perak, J.W.W. Birch in the year 1875.

Dua makam Sultan di Sayong (Tombs of two Sultans in Sayong)

Di sebelah Masjid Sayong Tengah terdapat makam Sultan ke 27 Perak, Sultan Yusuf I.
Besides the mosque of Sayong Tengah there lies the tomb of the 27th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Yusuf I.

Still when I have a closer look, I became confused which one is the tomb of the Sultan...

Apakah yang ini...
Is it this one...

Or is it this one? Both tombs have tombstones for men which looks the same...

Almost 2 km to the north, still in Sayong, one could see this tomb building besides the road...

Here exist the tomb to the 24th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Ali who ruled around 10 years earlier...

Di sini juga terdapat sejumlah makam...

Here also lies a number of tombs...

But unlike at the tomb of Sultan Yusuf I, the tomb of Sultan Ali clearly stands out compared to the rest.

Masjid (Mosque of) Sayong Tengah

Lebih kurang 4 km ke selatan Masjid Kota Lama Kanan terdapat Masjid Sayong Tengah.
Some 4 km south of mosque of Kota Lama Kanan there lies the mosque of Sayong Tengah.

Semasa batu itudiletakkan beliau masih timbalan Perdana Menteri...
The writings at the front of the mosque said the building's foundation stone was put by the second Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdul Razak. When the stone was set he was still the deputy Prime Minister...

Mari pergi lebih dekat...
Let us go closer...

On the wall of the mosque there are writings saying the opening of the mosque in 1969 was officiated by Sultan Idris II, the 33rd Sultan of Perak...

Masjid (Mosque of) Kota Lama Kanan dan batu tanda (and the marking stone for) Sultan Mansur Shah

From the tomb of Tok Temong we moved 10 km nearing the town of Kuala Kangsar to get to the mosque of Kota Lama Kanan.

Di halamannya terdapat makam seorang pembesar lama Perak bernama Temenggung Wan Hussin.
On its yard lies the tomb of an old official of Perak named Temenggung Wan Hussin.

More interesting is what is inside...

Terdapat sebatang batu nesan yang menandakan tempat Sultan kedua Perak, Sultan Mansur Shah (memerintah 1549-1577) dikatakan ghaib ketika menunaikan solat Jumaat!
There exist a single tombstone which marks the place where the second Sultan of Perak, Sultan Mansur Shah (ruled 1549-1577) is said to have disappeared while conducting the congregational prayer of Jumaat!

Makam (Tomb of) Tok Temong

Not far from the surau of Kampung Temong, there lies the tomb of Tok Temong a female official who used to live 500 years ago.

Menurut ceritanya beliau pernah berunding dengan Sultan pertama Perak, Sultan Muzaffar Shah I (memerintah 1528-1549) untuk menetapkan wilayah pemerintahan masing-masing, Tok Temong di mudik kiri Sungai Perak, Sultan di mudik kanan...
According to the stories she once negotiated with the first Sultan of Perak, Sultan Muzaffar Shah I (ruled 1528-1549) to set their respective domains of rule, Tok Temong on the left side of the upriver journey through the Perak river, the Sultan on the right upriver side...

Kedudukan tinggi Tok Temong diakui sehingga menjadi syarat agar setiap Sultan Perak yang baru ditabalkan untuk menziarahi makamnya terlebih dahulu sebelum menziarahi makam mana-mana Sultan Perak!
The high position of Tok Temong is recognised such that it becomes a condition for every recently installed Sultan of Perak to visit her tomb first before visiting the tombs of any Perak Sultan!

I myself have visited this tomb a number of times and told stories about it in my other blogspots. It is only this time that I felt compelled to write an article about it here...

It is one of the place which I like to lodge at when I'm around...

Masjid Jamek (Main mosque of) Chenderiang, Perak

OK, kembali kita ke Malaysia, terus ke Perak...
OK, we return back to Malaysia, on to Perak...

Ini adalah Masjid Jamek Chenderiang.

This is the main mosque of Chenderiang.

Inside its yard could be seen an older wooden building...

Kita lihat bangunan utama masjid terlebih dahulu.
We look the the mosque's main building first.

Kolah mengambil wuduk.
The pool for taking abolution.

Serambing belakang.
The back verandah.

Dewan utama solat.
The main praying hall.

Sekarang kita lihat bangunan lama di sebelah...
Now we have a look at the old building besides...

Look at the carvings available especially the ones shaped like tounges hanging down the corners of the roof.

Mari masuk ke dalam...
Let's go inside...

Melihat atur penggunaan ruang, nampaknya ia adalah bangunan masjid terdahulu...
Looking at the usage of space, it looks like this building was the previous mosque...

From the verandah could be seen the Muslim burial ground across the road. I was made to understand that here lies the bodies of a number of local elders especially those from the Perak Sayyid Jamalulail family.
