Seterusnya saya menuju ke Alor Setar kemudian mengambil simpang ke Gunung Keriang lalu terlihat masjid ini.

Next I headed to Alor Setar and then took the junction to Gunung Keriang and saw this mosque.

Rekabentuknya sangat menarik terutama bumbung dan menara kecil...

Its architecture is very interesting especially the roofs and small tower...

Terdapat banyak penggunaan besi untuk hiasan selain menyokong struktur.

There is plenty usage of steel for decoration apart from supporting the structure.

Di belakang masjid terdapat tanah perkuburan. Sebenarnya kedudukannya ke hadapan lagi daripada mihrab, tetapi boleh dikira belakang jika dilihat dari pintu masuk kawasan masjid...

Behind the mosque there is a burial ground. Actually its position is more to the front of the mihrab (the front-most section of the mosque), but it could be considered to be behind when seen from the door to the mosque compond.

Boleh kelihatan terus makam Tuan Hussin Kedah, orang yang namanya diabadikan pada masjid...

You could directly see the tomb of Tuan Hussin Kedah, the person whose name is immortalised with the mosque...

Hidup pertengahan abad ke 19 hingga awal abad ke 20 Masihi beliau adalah seorang ulamak besar Kedah yang berketurunan Banjar dari Kalimantan. Oleh kerana lahir di Kedah dan banyak mengajar di negeri itu beliau dikenali sebagai Tuan Hussin Kedah selain Tuan Hussin Al-Banjari.

Living in the middle of the 19th century till early 20th century AD he is a major religious master of Kedah who is descended from the Banjars of Kalimantan. As he was born in Kedah and spent most of his time teaching in this state he is known as Tuan Hussin Kedah apart from Tuan Hussin Al-Banjari.

Di kaki Bukit Tinggi berdekatan Jitra terdapat bangunan tinggal ini.
At the foot of Bukit Tinggi near Jitra there exist this abandoned building.


Menurut cerita rakyat tempatan ia adalah istana tinggalan Raja Bersiong, seorang pemerintah Kedah dahulukala.

According to the stories of local folks this is the palace left behind by Raja Bersiong, a Kedah ruler of olden times.

Raja Bersiong yang hidup beberapa ratus tahun dahulu disebut sebagai pemerintah kejam sehingga sanggup memakan darah manusia. Untuk makluman ini adalah artikel ke 525 di blogspot ini.

Berhadapan Masjid Tanjong Pauh ada satu simpang. Ambil simpang itu dan tidak lama kemudian boleh kelihatan bangunan ini.

Facing the mosque of Tanjong Pauh there is a junction. Take the junction and not long after could be seen this mosque.

Ia adalah bangunan makam Sheikh Abdul Jalil, seorang ulamak yang menjadi khadi besar Kedah abad ke 18 Masihi.

It is the tomb building of Sheikh Abdul Jalil, a religious master who became the main khadi (something like a jurist) of Kedah in the 18th century AD.

Pada satu sisi terdapat makam pengikutnya Sheikh Ibrahim.

At one side lies the tomb of his follower Sheikh Ibrahim.

Makam Sheikh Abdul Jalil terletak di tengah.

The tomb of Sheikh Abdul Jalil is situated at the centre.

Pada satu lagi sisi adalah makam seorang lagi pengikut yang bernama Mohamad Yusuf. Ketika menghampiri bandar Jitra, Kedah dari arah Alor Setar boleh kelihatan masjid ini di tepi jalan.
