Masjid jamek (Main mosque of) Yan, Kedah

After a while we then reached the small town of Yan or to be more precise Yan Besar (literaly the bigger Yan as there is a smaller town called Yan Kechil or smaller Yan not so far away). We headed straight to its main mosque...

Tahun Islam yang tertera menunjukkan ia dibina sekitar 1935 Masihi.

The Islamic year inscribed shows it was built around 1935 AD.

This mosque gives rise to memories as it was here that I lodged at when I first arrived in Yan 4 years ago.

Kita lihat lebih dekat.
Let us have a closer look.

Dewan solat.
Praying hall.

Kawasan bawah kubah.
Section under the dome.

Mihrab.
Front-most section.

Serambi kanan.
Right verandah.

Bahagian belakang.
The rear section.

Masjid (Mosque of) Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, Yan Kechil

At the small village of Yan Kechil (literally the smaller Yan) in turn there is this mosque.

The name displayed at the entrance to the compound mentioned it as Masjid (mosque of) Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, named after the first Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Mari lihat ke dalam.
Let us have a look inside.

Serambi tepi.
Side verandah.

Dewan utama solat.
Main praying hall.

Bahagian bawah bumbung tengah.
The section under the middle roof.

Mihrab.
Front-most section.

Masjid (Mosque of) Ar-Rahman, Permatang Buluh

Bersambung dari Masjid (Mosque of) Permatang Bongor.
Continued from Masjid (Mosque of) Permatang Bongor.

Furthermore to the south nearing the town of Yan, there appears in turn this mosque.

It's name is the mosque of Ar-Rahman, the location is at Kampung (village of) Permatang Buluh, already in the district of Yan.

Lihat bentuk menara yang agak menarik.
Look at the shape of the tower which is rather interesting.

Lihat masjid lebih dekat.
Let's have a closer look at the mosque.

Kolam wudhuk.
Pool for taking abolution.

Serambi tepi.
Side verandah.

Mari masuk ke dewan solat.
Let us enter the praying hall.

Mimbar...
The pulpit...

Masjid (Mosque of) Permatang Bongor

From the mosque of Kuala Kedah we headed towards Yan and saw this mosque.

It happened that I was tired and needed to rest, so we went inside.

It was inside this mosque that I only knew its name is the mosque of Permatang Bongor.

Dewan solat. Nampaknya ia baru lepas dibersihkan dan belum diatur kembali...
The praying hall. Looks like it was just cleaned up and has not been arranged back...

Bahagian bawah kubah.
Section under the dome.

Mihrab.
Front-most section.

Di luar hadapan masjid kelihatan binaan ini.
Outside in front of this mosque could be seen this construction.

Nampaknya ia adalah tapak masjid lama.
Looks like it is the site of the old mosque.

Muzium Kota Kuala Kedah (Museum of the fort of Kuala Kedah)

Bersambung dari Kota (Fort of) Kuala Kedah.
Continued from Kota (Fort of) Kuala Kedah.

Di tengah kota terdapat bangunan ini.
In the middle of the fort there lies this building.

At a number of corners of the roof could be seen carvings which I like to call tounges coming out.

Saya pun melihat lebih dekat dan masuk.

I then had a closer look and went inside.

Rupa-rupanya inilah Muzium Kota Kuala Kedah.
As it turned out this is it the museum of the fort of Kuala Kedah.

Di dalamnya terdapat banyak maklumat tentang kota. Bacalah sendiri ya. Anda boleh membukanya di windows baru...

Inside it there are plenty of information on the fort. Read it yourself ya. You could open it in new windows...
