Makam Raja Melewar di siang hari (The tomb of Raja Melewar during the day)

Mari! :]
At last, after arriving at the tomb of Raja Melewar 2 times at night, last Wednesday I finally got to see it during the day. Come! :]

The first time I came here was 3 months ago. At the time I was making a trip round the state of Negeri Sembilan while shooting video clips at some places thus I only arrived here sometime around 8 at night.

Lihat artikel lama bertajuk Ziarah ke makam Raja Melewar waktu malam (Visit to the tomb of Raja Melewar at night!) yang dibuat 7 Jun.

And thus I couldn't take clear pictures such as this. Look at the old article titled Ziarah ke makam Raja Melewar waktu malam (Visit to the tomb of Raja Melewar at night!) published June 7.

Now you also can read the information with such clarity. To read it more thoroughly, please open the picture in a new window. For information, there's some difference between the information in Malay and the translation in English. Whatever, both are enough to indicate that Raja Melewar who originated from Pagar Ruyung in Sumatera was invited to become the first Yam Tuan (ruler) of Negeri Sembilan in the year 1773 before he passed away 1795.

Dalam kawasan berpagar, terdapat sepasang makam sebelah-menyebelah...

Inside the fenced area, there exist a pair of tombs positioned side by side...

Di hadapan terdapat informasi ini...
In front there's this information...

Tetapi dalam lawatan pertama ke sini seperti disebut dalam artikel Ziarah ke makam Raja Melewar waktu malam (Visit to the tomb of Raja Melewar at night!)

But during the first visit here as shown in the article Ziarah ke makam Raja Melewar waktu malam (Visit to the tomb of Raja Melewar at night!), I thought the tomb above was the one belonging to Raja Melewar as it looks long enough while the pair of tombs nearby looked liked it belongs to children, because of the short distance between the head tombstone and that for the feet!

In the second visit made also at night more than a month afterwards only do I realise that the information available nearby mentioned Raja Melewar was buried next to his queen! Above is the tomb of the queen. What's more interesting, it was in the second visit that I also found out the tomb is marked with Aceh-type tombstone.

Inilah makam Raja Melewar... Ia juga ditanda batu nesan Aceh!

This is the tomb of Raja Melewar... It is also marked by Aceh tombstone!

Makam Raja Melewar bersebelahan permaisurinya. Sekian! :]

The tomb of Raja Melewar next to his queen. That's all! :]

Makam (tomb of) Dol Said...

Rasanya ramai anak Malaysia pernah mendengar nama Dol Said, seorang pejuang Melayu yang melawan pemerintahan penjajah Inggeris. Sekarang, mari kita melawat makam beliau. Mari! :]

Me feels many Malaysian citizens have heard the name Dol Said, a Malay fighter who fought again the rule of the colonialist English (or British?). Now, let us pay a visit to his tomb. Come! :]

Around 1km from the PLUS highway tol building in Alor Gajah, Melaka, on the main road heading to Negeri Sembilan, one could see this mosque with the signboard just besides the road...

From the sides of the mosque, one could see a yellow tomb building which stands out...

I had to climb down using the ladder seen here to get to the area around the tomb!

As it is the mosque lies on a hill slope, besides it is a medium sized cemetery area... There's also a few other tombs which stand out, but I don't know to whom it belongs to.

Inilah makam Dol Said...

This is the tomb of Dol Said...

Siapa itu Dol Said?

Who is Dol Said? He is the 9th chief of the province of Naning, installed in the year 1802. The English in Melaka demanded that Naning should a pay a measure of tax but Dol Said refused. And so Naning was attacked by the English but Dol Said and his people managed to repulse the invaders!

Naning diserang lagi Mei 1832.

Naning was attacked again in May 1832. The number of those killed from both sides made Dol Said surrender in 1834... This is because many of those killed were Malays too. Because the English managed to garner the support of some Malays from a different group to go along attacking Naning!

Dol Said diberi pencen oleh Inggeris. Beliau meninggal dunia 1849.

Dol Said was given pension by the English. He died in the year 1849.

From the tomb of Dol Said, I looked again at the mosque. Then only I saw an easier route to get to the tomb from the mosque that is on the left inside this picture!

Gambar makam Dol Said berserta masjid...

A picture of the tomb of Dol Said along with the mosque...

Bila saya naik kembali ke masjid, baru saya tahu inilah dia Masjid Taboh Naning. Timbul rasa satu hari nanti saya mesti bermalam di sini. Sekian! :]

When I came back up to the mosque, then only I realised this is the mosque of Taboh Naning. Came the feeling that one day I must spend the night here. That's all! :]

Makam (tomb of) Sultan Hussin Shah di (in) Melaka...

Disambung dari artikel Masjid (Mosque of) Tengkera, Melaka.

Continuing from the article Masjid (Mosque of) Tengkera, Melaka.

Di luar perkarangan Masjid Tengkera, terletak satu tanah perkuburan Islam.

Just outside the courtyard of the mosque of Tengkera, there lies a Muslim cemetery.

At one corner of the cemetery there lies a certain tomb!

Sila!

This tomb is gazetted as a place of much historical value. It is owned by Sultan Hussin Shah, a Sultan of the Johor-Riau-Lingga in the 19th Century. For more information, please click and open the picture above in another window ya... Go on!

Sekarang mari kita ke makam.

Now let's go to the tomb.

Adapun pada zaman pemerintahan Sultan inilah berlakunya Perjanjian Inggeris-Belanda 1824 yang menyaksikan bumi Melayu khususnya empayar Johor-Riau-Lingga yang dikatakan mewarisi kekuasaan empayar Melaka terpecah dua... Jadi satu bahagian yang dikuasa penjajah Inggeris, satu lagi bahagian yang dikuasai Belanda.

As it is, it was during the rule of this Sultan that the English-Dutch Treaty of 1824 was signed resulting in the Malay world especially the Johor-Riau-Lingga empire which is said to be the continuation of the powers and influence of the Melaka empire broken into two... Becoming one part controlled by the colonialist English, another part with the Dutch holding sway.

Singapura (please, I dispise using the Anglicised word Singapore much like I dispise using the word Malacca for Melaka) which used to be the centre of administration during the rule of Sultan Hussin was thus practically pawned to the English (or British) and became their main fort. The result, Singapura continued to become the main base for foreign forces to threaten the sovereignity of the Malay people till this very day!

Singapura pula dikuasai bangsa bukan Melayu. Baca balik artikel ini Makam (tomb of) Baginda Ali. Sekian! :]

Sultan Hussin was forced to leave Singapura and thus resided in Melaka where he died at. Modern history has witnessed the part of the Malay lands under English influenced then emerged as the nation of Malaysia, the parts under Dutch influence became the Republic of Indonesia. Singapura in turn is controlled by non-Malays. Oh, for information, Sultan Hussin is the father to Sultan Baginda Ali. Read back this article Makam (tomb of) Baginda Ali. That's all! :]

Masjid (Mosque of) Tengkera, Melaka

Mari! :]
During the recent weekend, I went for a short trip to Melaka. Stopped by at this mosqe to take some pictures. Come! :]

This is the mosque of Tengkera, some 3km north of the Melaka city centre...

It is one of the mosque with the most beautiful architecture in Melaka, perhaps in the whole of Malaysia!

Menaranya mungkin kelihatan lama tapi biasa sahaja.

Its tower might look old but common.

Just try going into the verandah and inside, you just might find yourself mesmerised with the architecture!

Lihat pintu-pintunya yang terukir cantik...
Look at the doors with its ornate beautiful carvings...

Dalam dewan utama...

Inside the main hall...

Kolam mengambil air wudhuk.

The pool for taking abolution. Maybe I came at an unfortunate time, while the pool is dry. Maybe because it is undergoing some restoration works...

Apapun, tidak dapat dinafikan seninya di dalam. Lihat sahaja mimbar ini!

Whatever, you couldn't deny the art inside. Just look at this pulpit!

Sekian! :]

For the history of this mosque, just read this information ya. You can enlarge it by opening it in a new page using the right button of the mouse. That's all! :]

Pemandangan sekitar (the views around) Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur...

Assalamualaikum semua. Sila! :]
Peace be upon you all. It's been 2 weeks since I did any writing here, so let's open up a story with some pictures ya. Come! :]

Ahad lalu ketika berjalan-jalan di sekitar bangunan flat di Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, tiba-tiba saya tergerak untuk menaiki lif sehingga tingkat paling atas...

Last Sunday while walking around the flats at Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, suddenly I felt like taking the lift up to the topmost floor...

Saya pun tak tahu kenapa. Seingat saya seumur hidup saya pernah sekali sahaja menaiki flat ini, itupun setakat ke tingkat 4 menziarahi rumah sewa seorang kawan sekitar 12 tahun lalu!

I also don't know why. As far as I can remember in my whole life I've been up these flats only once, even then only up to the 4th floor to visit a friend at his rented place some 12 years ago!

Apapun, boleh tahan juga pemandangan dari sini...

Whatever, the view from here is not that bad, quite good actually...

Nampaklah bagaimana sebuah lebuhraya bertol memisahkan kawasan Kampung Baru dengan sekitar Ampang berdekatan KLCC...

So one could clearly see how a tolled highway divides the area of Kampung Baru and the vicinity of Ampang nearby the KLCC...

Ini adalah pandangan menghala ke Timur...

This is a view headings towards the East...

Menghadap ke Baratdaya... Terbentang separuh dari Kampung Baru...

Heading towards the Northeast... There sprawled half of Kampung Baru...

Satu pandangan ke Utara...

A view towards the North....

Then I looked down below. It was while walking down here that I saw the flat and felt like going up...

Pandangan ke Timur dari sudut lain...

A view of the East from a different angle...

For information, Kampung Baru is the one and only Malay village or enclave still exisiting in the middle of the city of Kuala Lumpur.

Inilah flat yang saya naiki. Sekian! :]

This is the flat which I came up in. That's all! :]

Batu hidup di (The megalithic stones at) Pengkalan Kempas...

Selamat malam! :]
Here are a few pictures of the megalithic stones in Pengkalan Kempas which was taken almost 3 weeks ago. This should be enough to fill this posting, the 151th posting in this blogspot ya... For more pictures there along with the story, please read the article The megalithic stones of Pengkalan Kempas in the blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH made 5 months ago. Good night! :]

Keramat Tanjung Tuan (The 'Keramat' of Tanjung Tuan)!

Posting ini boleh dikira sambungan dari artikel The Negeri Sembilan journey continued : On to the 'Keramat'... di blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH . Mari! :]
This posting could be said to be the continuation to the article The Negeri Sembilan journey continued : On to the 'Keramat'... in the blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH . Come! :]

At a rather hidden part of Tanjung Tuan, there lies this big rock...

On top of it is a quite interesting 'artifact'. Can you see it?

Tak nampak? Biar kita lihat lebih dekat... Agak-agak apakah ini?

Couldn't see? Let us have a closer look... Try take a guess what is this?

Got it? According to the stories, the depression on top the rock is what's left of a footstep of someone believed to be magical and miraculous. Some said it is the footstep left behind by the legendary Malay warrior Hang Tuah! That's why this place is also known as Keramat Tanjung Tuan (the miraculous place of Tanjung Tuan)...

Me on other hand put my foot inside to see if it fits. Yes, it does fit, perhaps not exactly but it does. If it's true that this is what's left of a human foot step, then I feel the feet must surely be much bigger than mine!

Next to it is a well with rather cooling and fresh clean water!

Biarlah... Itu mereka punya pasal. Sekian! :]

The rock with the depression said to be the footstep left by someone is considered to be so miraculous that some people come here to ask for so many things such as good luck and such. Let them be... That is their business. That's all! :]
