Assalamualaikum semua. Hujung minggu lepas, saya telah ke Pantai Timur lagi. Maka di sini biar diletakkan sedikit gambar-gambar di satu masjid cantik di sana ya. Mari! :]
Peace be upon you all. Last weekend, I went to the East Coast again. And so here let me put here some pictures of a beautiful mosque there ya. Come! :]

Ini adalah Masjid Tengku Tengah Zaharah di Kuala Terengganu.
This is the mosque of Tengku Tengah Zaharah in Kuala Terengganu.

Letaknya di tengah sebuah tasik buatan manusia di Kuala Ibai, sekitar 5 km di selatan bandaraya Kuala Terengganu menjadikan ia juga dikenali sebagai masjid terapung...
Its position at the middle of a man-made lake in Kuala Ibai, some 5 km south of the city of Kuala Terengganu made it also known as the floating mosque...

Untuk makluman, di sebalik pokok-pokok di belakang masjid ini adalah pantai yang menghadap ke Laut Cina Selatan.

For information, behind the trees at the back of the mosque is a beach facing the South China Sea.

Kaca hijau dengan panel kayu berwarna coklat gelap bergabung dengan dinding batu berwarna putih memberikan satu rasa keharmonian antara bumi dan tumbuh-tumbuhan dengan kesucian tanpa bentuk yang digambarkan dengan warna putih...

Green glasses with dark brown-coloured wooden panels combined with white-coloured walls gave a sense of harmony between the earth, the plants or greens along with purity without form as symbolised by the colour white...

Masjid Negara (the national mosque)

Assalamualaikum. Hujung minggu lalu, saya tergerak untuk singgah bersolat di Masjid Negara. Ini ceritanya...
Peace be upon you all. Last weekend, I felt like stopping by the national mosque to do my prayers. This is the story...

Asalnya saya tidak mahu mengambil apa-apa gambar. Walaupun hujung minggu itu saya sempat berjalan ke beberapa tempat menarik lain terutama di sekitar Hulu Langat, saya melarang diri saya sendiri daripada mengambil gambar dengan alasan mahu menikmati segala pemandangan tanpa perlu 'dikacau' dengan kamera. Sebaliknya sampai di bahagian masjid ini, terasa rugi pula tidak mengambil gambar...

Originally I didn't want to take any pictures. Although over the weekend I also had the time to visit some interesting places especially around the area of Hulu Langat, I prohibited myself from taking pictures for the reason that I wanted to enjoy all the available sight and views without being 'disturbed' by the camera. Instead when I arrived at this part of the mosque, I felt like it's a big loss if I didn't take pictures...

Maka saya pun mula mengambil beberapa gambar. Lagipun kali terakhir saya singgah bersolat di Masjid Negara adalah mungkin lebih 10 tahun lalu!

And so I began to take a few pictures. Furthermore the last time I stopped by to do my prayers at the national mosque was probably more than 10 years ago!

Tapak kerajaan lama di Putrajaya? (Site of an old kingdom in Putrajaya?)

Beberapa bulan lepas, kalau tak salah ingatan, ketika menonton warta berita malam di TV3, tiba-tiba dipaparkan satu cerita mengenai penemuan tapak sebuah kerajaan lama di tengah-tengah Putrajaya...

A few months ago, if I remember right, while watching the night news at TV3, suddenly there appeared a story on the discovery of the site of an old kingdom right in smack in the middle of Putrajaya...

Katanya ia terletak di Presint 4. Setelah beberapa lama, baru Isnin lalu saya tergerak untuk melihat tempatnya...

The story said it is located at Presint 4. After some time, it's only last Monday that I felt like having a look at the place...

Apa yang menonjol ialah bentuk bahagian ini. Ia mengingatkan saya pada sebuah bukit di Sungai Siput, Perak yang katanya ada kena mengena dengan kerajaan purba Gangga Negara. What stood out was this portion of the hill. It reminds me of a hill in Sungai Siput, Perak which is said to have a certain connection with the ancient kingdom of Gangga Negara. Pondok rehat di (resting hut in) Pulau Besar, Melaka...

Ini pula adalah gambar pondok tempat saya bermalam dalam lawatan terbaru ke Pulau Besar, Melaka hujung minggu lalu...

This in turn is a picture of the hut where I spent the night during my latest visit to Pulau Besar, Melaka last weekend...

Pondok ini baru dibina dalam sebulan lalu, di atas tapak sebuah pondok lain di mana saya pernah bermalam dalam lawatan sebelum itu.

This hut was just built within the last one month, upon the site of another hut in which I spent the night in my previous visit here.

Saiznya adalah lebih 2 kali ganda pondok yang dahulu. Hmm, mungkin satu hari nanti saya akan berbulan madu di sini? Hmm...

Its size is 2 times the size of the previous hut. Hmm, maybe one day I will have my honeymoon here? Hmm...

Kubur misteri (mysterious grave in) Kuala Lipis?

Minggu lepas, saya telah pergi ke Kuala Lipis, Pahang. Lihat artikel A visit to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan teaching institute in Kuala Lipis di blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH . Seorang pensyarah di institut perguruan itu telah memberitahu bahawa di tengah bandar Kuala Lipis, terdapat 2 buah makam misteri dengan batu nesan besar, tak tahu milik siapa. Katanya bentuk batu nesan itu hampir serupa bentuk batu nesan Aceh seperti yang ada dipaparkan dalam siri buku karangan saya, "Berpetualang ke Aceh".

Last week, I went to Kuala Lipis, Pahang. Look at the article A visit to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan teaching institute in Kuala Lipis in the blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH . A lecturer at the teaching institute told me that right in the middle of the town of Kuala Lipis, there exist 2 mysterious tombs with large tombstones, not known who it belongs to. He said the shape of the tombstones are similar to the shape of the Aceh tombstones as shown the series of books authored by me, "Berpetualang ke Aceh".

Saya pun pergi mencari makam-makam yang dimaksudkan. Memang ia terletak di tengah-tengah bandar...

I then went to look for the tombs mentioned. It sure are located right smack in the middle of town...

Bila dilihat betul-betul baru tahu makam atau kubur siapa. Pada satu batu, tercatat nama Solomon Chapman, meninggal dunia tahun 1894. Kubur orang Inggeris rupanya. Sekian! :]

When closely scrutinised then only do I know whose tomb or grave this is. On one tombstone, there is inscribed the name Solomon Chapman, who died in the year 1894. So this is the grave of an Englishman. That's all! :]

Surau (small praying hall of) Haji Yusuf, Rembau

Hari ini saya terasa mahu meletakkan sedikit gambar sebuah surau kecil yang dipanggil Surau Haji Yusuf di Chembong, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. Surau ini dinamakan sempena nama seorang penduduk tempatan yang dihormati, Haji Yusuf, juga dikenali sebagai Haji Yusuf Rembau.

Today I feel like putting a few pictures of the small praying hall called Surau Haji Yusuf di Chembong, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. The small praying hall is named after a respected local, Haji Yusuf also known as Haji Yusuf Rembau.

Haji Yusuf yang telah lama meninggal dunia dikenali sebagai seorang alim yang pandai mengubat orang serta menyelesaikan pelbagai masalah dengan pengunaan ayat-ayat Al-Quran. Semasa hidup, surau ini sering didatangi ramai orang termasuk mereka yang mahu menuntut ilmu.

Haji Yusuf who have passed away some time ago is known as religious man good at curing diseases and solving problems using verses from the Al-Quran. When he was still alive, the small praying hall was often visited by many people including those who seeked knowledge.

Pandangan dalam surau. Menurut ceritanya, semasa menunaikan haji di Mekah, Haji Yusuf telah berdoa mahu melihat isi Ka'abah. Sekonyong-konyong itu beliau dapat mendekati pintu Ka'abah di sebalik kehadiran ribuan orang yang berhimpit-himpit. Malah beliau diangkat naik lalu dapat masuk ke dalam. Untuk makluman, pintu Ka'abah jarang sekali dibuka. Sekian...

The view inside the praying hall. According to the stories, when he was performing his hajj (the Muslim pilgrimage) to Mekah, Haji Yusuf prayed to God asking to see what's inside the Ka'abah. Immediately he managed to approach the door of the Ka'abah despite the presence of thousands of people stacked around. In fact he was carried up and then got inside. For information, the doors of the Ka'abah is rarely opened. That's all...

Bukit (Hill of) Senjuang, Melaka

Pada petang 7 Syawal, saya pun mengorak langkah kembali ke Lembah Kelang. Tergerak untuk singgah di bandaraya Melaka sebentar...

In the afternoon of the 7th day of the Muslim month of Syawal (also known as the festive month for the Aidilitri celebration) I started the journey back to the Kelang Valley. Felt like stopping at the city of Melaka for a while...

Saya mahu melihat Bukit Senjuang. Seingat saya, inilah kali pertama saya sampai ke bukit yang terletak di bahagian selatan bandaraya Melaka ini.

I wanted to have a look at the hill of Senjuang. As far as I could remember, this is the first time I went to this hill which is located at the southern parts of the city of Melaka.

Nama Senjuang terbit dari sebutan nama Kota St. John yang pernah dibina oleh Portugis di puncak bukit. Nama asal bukit ini ialah Bukit Pipi... Sila buka gambar di atas dalam windows lain untuk membaca informasi yang tertera.

The name Senjuang came from the pronounciation for the name fort of St. John which was built by the Portuegese on the hill top. The hill's original name was Bukit (hill of) Pipi... Please open the picture above in another windows to read the information shown here.

Di atas ini juga pernah wujud sebuah gereja kecil.

On top here also there used to exist a chapel.

Tetapi baik kota mahupun gereja telah dihancurkan orang-orang Aceh dalam usaha mereka untuk membebaskan Melaka dari tangan Portugis!

But both the fort and the chapel were destroyed by the people of Aceh in their effort to free Melaka from the hands of the Portuguese!

Di lereng tepi kini terdapat sebuah tangki air besar.

Now on the hillside there lies a big water tank.

Apapun, kota ini dibina balik oleh Belanda pada tahun 1760, selepas mereka merampas Melaka dari Portugis tahun 1641.

Whatever, the fort was rebuilt by the Dutch in 1760, after they seized Melaka from the Portuguese in the year 1641.

Inilah kota yang dilihat kini...

Masjid lama (old mosque of) Olak Sepam, Pagoh, Muar

Selepas hampir seminggu beraya Aidilfitri di rumah keluarga di Muar, saya tergerak untuk menziarahi makam Sultan Alauddin (memerintah Melaka 1477-1488) di Kampung Raja, Pagoh. Sila lihat artikel Gambar-gambar di Muar (pictures in Muar) yang dibuat di sini hampir 2 tahun lalu.

After almost a week celebrating the Aidilfitri festive season at my parents' place in Muar, I got the urge to visit the tomb of Sultan Alauddin (ruled Melaka 1477-1488) at Kampung Raja, Pagoh. Please look at the article Gambar-gambar di Muar (pictures in Muar) made here almost 2 years ago.

Kemudian saya tergerak melihat beberapa tempat lain di sekitar. Antaranya adalah masjid dengan senibina unik di atas ini...

Then I felt like having a look at some other places around. Among it was the mosque with the interesting unique architecture above...

Batu tanda di hadapannya menyebut ia dibina tahun 1931, di atas tapak sebuah masjid lebih lama...

The information plaque in front said it was built in the year 1931, on top of the site of an older mosque...

Pandangan dalam pula... Masjid ini tidak lagi digunakan, setelah berlaku banjir besar 1971 yang menenggelamkan ruang solat. Lalu sebuah masjid lain telah dibina berdekatan di satu lokasi yang lebih selamat. Sekian...

In turn, the look inside... The mosque is not in use any more, after a big flood occured in 1971 leaving the main prayer hall under water. And so another mosque was built nearby at a safer location. That's all...
