Makam (Tomb of) Siti Jalang

Bersambung cerita daripada perjalanan selatan Disember 10-18.
Continuing stories from the southern trip of December 10-18.

Perjalanan seterusnya membawa kami ke Kota Tinggi, Johor.
The journey next brought us to Kota Tinggi, Johor.

There is a tomb which I have long wanted to visit but it was only this time I had the opportunity.

The information here mention it as the tomb of Cik Siti referring to a woman whose name was Siti Aminah. But she was also known as Siti Jalang (literarily Siti the slut!).

Beliau sangat jelita lalu digilai ramai laki-laki. Beliau pun dipinang orang. Tetapi suaminya mati sebaik sahaja mengahwininya.
According to the stories Cik Siti was the daughter of a very rich official. She was very gorgeous and thus was madly admired by many men. Her hand was then asked in marriage. But the husband died as soon as they were married.

Namun Cik Siti terus diminati dan dipinang lagi. Sampaikan 99 orang suami mati sebaik sahaja mengahwininya.
Still Cik Siti continued to be admired and her hand asked again in marriage. This goes on till 99 husbands died. That is why those who are jealous of her called her Siti Jalang (Siti the slut).

I am not sure what is it that caused the 99 husbands to pass away. There are those who say this is because Cik Siti was casted by an evil spell. Only the 100th husband managed to overcome this problem. They they managed to have a peaceful married life.

Kota (Fort of) Lukut

Bersambung dari Sebuah makam terserlah di Lukut (An outstanding tomb in Lukut).
Continued from Sebuah makam terserlah di Lukut (An outstanding tomb in Lukut).

OK.
OK. As it is before we went to the royal tombs of Lukut dan the outstading tomb nearby, we climbed this hill.

From up there you could see far to the resort town of Port Dickson.

Welcome to the Kota (fort of) Lukut which was built by Raja Jumaat.

Siapakah dia? Lihat Makam (tomb of) Raja Jumaat, Lukut, Negeri Sembilan. Dia bukan orang dalam gambar ini.
Who is he? Look at Makam (tomb of) Raja Jumaat, Lukut, Negeri Sembilan. He is not the man in this picture.

Actually the pictures used in this article were taken three and a half years ago.

Although I have been here again 2 weeks ago the pictures which were taken then were so few.

This is because I thought I have made an article on the fort of Lukut in this blogspot before.

Tadi baru saya tahu artikel tentang kota ini belum dibuat lalu saya pun menggunakan gambar-gambar lama.
Just now only did I realised an article on this fort has not been made and thus I used old pictures.

Continued from Makam diraja (Royal tombs of) Lukut.

In front of the official royal tombs which is walled in turn could be seen this tomb.

The yellow clothes which cover the tombstones show that it also belongs to royalty.

It's just who the person was is not mentioned. But it looks like he (or she?) was an important person in Lukut too.
