Next I want to a tomb area which is called Makam (Tomb of) Meurah I.

Batu-batu nesan di sini juga besar tapi saya rasa tak sebesar pada Makam Meurah II.

The tombstones here are also large but I feel not as large as that at Makam (Tomb of) Meurah II.

Tidak jauh daripada kawasan makam tadi terdapat satu kawasan pemakaman yang lebih terjaga.

Not far from the previous tomb area there exists another tomb area which is much more well-maintained.

Dipanggil "Makam Meurah II" ia telah digazetkan sebagai satu cagar budaya.

Called "Makam (tomb of) Meurah II) it has been gazetted as a cultural site.

Meurah adalah gelaran pada raja-raja yang pernah memerintah wilayah-wilayah dalam Aceh lama. Dipercayai ini satu kawasan pemakaman para Meurah.

Meurah is a title for rulers who have ruled territories inside old Aceh. It is believed that this is a tomb area for the Meurahs.

Ahad 15 Februari 2015. Kumpulan yang bersama saya datang ke Aceh telah kembali ke Malaysia dengan penerbangan pagi. Saya pula dibawa seorang warga tempat ke satu kawasan makam terpencil di luar Banda Aceh.

Sunday 15th February 2015. The group I came with to Aceh have returned to Malaysia using the morning flight. Me in turn was brought by a local an isolated tomb area outside of Banda Aceh.

Di sini saya melihat sejumlah anak muda aktivis Aceh berusaha keras memulihkan makam-makam lama.

Here I saw a number of young Aceh activists working hard to recover old tombs.

Sebenarnya batu-batu nesan di sini sudah jatuh, banyak yang tertanam ke dalam tanah. Lihat Erecting fallen Aceh tombstones to preserve history artikel di blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH.

Setelah didirikan balik baru kawasan ini kelihatan sebagai satu tanah pemakaman orang-orang penting kerajaan. Dengan itu sejarah lama pun dapat dilestarikan.

After being erected back then only this area looks like a burial ground for important people of a kingdom. As such old history could be empowered.

Ke bawah sedikit daripada puncak terdapat satu lagi makam lama.

A bit lower from the summit there exist another old tomb.

Tidak seperti makam di puncak, yang ini telah dikenal pasti pemiliknya.

Not like the tomb at the summit, the owner had already been identified.

Saya diberitahu ia milik seorang sultan kerajaan Lamuri yang bertakwa. Kalau tak salah ingatan namanya Sultan Muhammad dan baginda mangkat tahun 1412 Masihi.

I was told it belongs to a pious sultan of the kingdom of Lamuri. If my memory is not mistaken his name is Sultan Muhammad and his highness passed away in the year 1412 AD.

Petang sedikit kami pergi ke satu tapak atas bukit tepian laut yang dipercayai pernah menjadi satu pusat kerajaan lama yang bernama Lamuri. Atas bukit itu terdapat sebuah makam lama.

Some time in the afternoon we went to a site on top of hill besides the sea which is believed to have been a centre of the old kingdom known as Lamuri. On top of the hill there lies an old tomb.

Makam ini belum dapat dikenali milik siapa.

This tomb has not been identified belonging to whom.

Namun kedudukan istimewa di puncak bukit mencadangkan ia milik seorang yang berkedudukan tinggi.

Still its special position on top a hill suggest it as belonging to a person of high position.

Next we went to a tomb complex at the fringe of the city.

Saya pertama kali sampai ke sini hampir 6 tahun lalu. Tetapi ketika itu ia kelihatan tidak teratur, kalau tak salah akibat Tsunami yang melanda Aceh 26 Disember 2004. Lihat artikel lama Makam (tomb of) Tuan di Kandang....

I first came here almost 6 years ago. But at that time it looked rather a mess, if not mistaken because of the Tsunami which affected Aceh 26th December 2004. Look at the old article Makam (tomb of) Tuan di Kandang....

Dalam lawatan terbaru ini baru saya pasti yang manakah makam orang yang dipanggil Tuan di Kandang.

In this latest visit only that I became sure which one is the tomb of the figure known as Tuan di Kandang.

Saya juga baru tahu nama beliau adalah Al Maqdum Abi Abdullah Sheikh Abdul Rauf Al Mulaqqah. Beliau ada seorang ulamak besar yang hidup 900 tahun lalu.

I also just came to know that his name is Al Maqdum Abi Abdullah Sheikh Abdul Rauf Al Mulaqqah. He is a major religious master who lived 900 years ago. 

Muzium (Museum of) Tsunami, Banda Aceh

Masuk hari kedua perjalanan ke Aceh 13-19 Feb...

On to the second day of the 13-19th Feb Aceh trip...

Pagi Sabtu 14 Februari 2015 kami singgah ke Muzium Tsunami di tengah Banda Aceh.

Saturday morning 14th February 2015 we visited the Tsunami Museum at midtown Banda Aceh.

Antara yang menarik adalah bahagian seperti serombong di mana nama-nama mereka yang terkorban akibat Tsunami yang melanda Aceh 26 Disember 2004 dipaparkan...

Among the attractions is a chimney-like section where names of those killed by the Tsunami which affected Aceh 26th Disember 2004 is shown...

Ada bahagian menunjukkan bendera negara-negara yang membantu pemulihan Aceh selepas itu.

There is a section showing flags of nations which helped Aceh recover afterwards.

Dan tentunya ada model-model menggambarkan betapa dasyatnya peristiwa Tsunami. Untuk lebih banyak gambar dan penerangan sila lihat artikel Visiting the Tsunami Museum di blogspot BERPETUALANG KE ACEH..
