Pekan Barus terletak dekat laut. Terdapat satu monumen dekat tepi pantai.

The small town of Barus is situated near the sea. There is a monument close to the beach.

Monumen dibina sebagai tanda peringatan bahawa Barus sudah dikenali dalam sejarah dunia sejak ribuan tahun lampau kerana produk kapur barus.

Monument was built in remembrance of the fact that Barus is already known in world history since thousand of years ago because of its product the kapur barus (camphor).

Di sini juga terdapat makam-makam pendakwah Islam yang diketahui paling awal sampai ke Indonesia.

Here also exists tombs of Islamic preachers who were known as the earliest to have reached Indonesia.

Awal pagi Sabtu 31 Ogos 2019 saya mengambil gambar di masjid ini.

Early Saturday morning 31st August 2019 I took pictures at this mosque.

Di sinilah saya dan keluarga menginap malam sebelumnya.

It was here that me and family lodged the previous night.

Namanya Masjid Raya Barus.

Its name is Masjid Raya (Main mosque of) Barus.

Ke hadapan sedikit, dalam kawasan yang dipanggil sebagai Kota Lama Kiri terdapat masjid ini.

A bit in front, inside an area called Kota Lama Kiri there lies this mosque.

Tetapi ketika itu ia belum dibuka lalu saya sekadar melihat daripada luar.

But at that time it was not yet opened so I just had a look from outside.

Sekarang baru melihat dalam...

Now only did I have a look inside...

Makam (Tomb of) Profesor Dr Zulkifli Muhammad

Seterusnya saya bergerak ke Kuala Kangsar. Sampai ke Kota Lama Kiri terlihat satu makam yang agak terserlah.

Next I moved on to Kuala Kangsar. Upon reaching Kota Lama Kiri saw a rather outstanding tomb.

Rupa-rupanya ada dua buah makam hampir serupa dibina begitu rapat sebelah menyebelah.

As it turned out there are two tombs looking almost identical built so close side by side.

Tertera nama Profesor Zulkifli Muhammad seorang tokoh Islam yang meninggal dunia tahun 1964.

Inscribed is the name Profesor Zulkifli Muhammad an Islamic figure who passed away in the year 1964.

Semakan di Internet menunjukkan beliau bergelar Dr, pernah menjadi Timbalan Yang Dipertua Agung Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) dan ahli parlimen Bachok, Kelantan pada 1959-1964.

A check on the the Internet shows he had the title Dr, was once the the Timbalan Yang Dipertua Agung (deputy supreme head) of Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS, a Malay Muslim political party) and member of parliament for Bachok, Kelantan in 1959-1964.

Di sebelah adalah makam isteri beliau Ustazah Asiah Kamaruddin, naib ketua Muslimat PAS Pusat. Rupa-rupanya mereka meninggal dunia dalam satu kemalangan ketika dalam perjalanan pulang ke Perak dari Kelantan. Untuk makluman ini adalah artikel ke-2020 di blogspot ARTMELAYU.

Besides is the tomb of his wife Ustazah Asiah Kamaruddin, deputy head for PAS Central women. As in turned out they passed away in an accident while on the way home to Perak from Kelantan. For information this is the 2020th article in the ARTMELAYU blogspot.

Victoria Bridge, Perak

Salam. Pergi pada hari ke-2 perjalanan pusing Perak 15-18 September.

Tengah hari Isnin 16 September 2019. Selepas bermalam di surau Kampung Temong, Kuala Kangsar saya ke Kampung Seberang Karai untuk melihat jambatan ini.

Monday noon 16th September 2019. After spending the night at the surau (praying hall) of Kampung Temong, Kuala Kangsar I went to Kampung Seberang Karai to look at this bridge.

Ia adalah jambatan lama kereta api yang tidak digunakan lagi selepas jambatan baru konkrit dibina beberapa tahun lalu. 

It is the old train bridge which is left unused after a new concrete bridge was built a number of years ago.

Dinamakan Victoria Bridge ia menyeberang Sungai Perak.

Called the Victoria Bridge it crosses the Perak river.

Di seberang sana terletak pekan Karai.

Across there lies the small town of Karai.

Maklumat menyebut ia dibina oleh British tahun 1897 dan dirasmikan tahun 1900.

The information says it was built by the British in the year 1897 and was officiated in the year 1900.

Masjid (Mosque of) Hamzah Fansuri, Pasar Rundeng

Sekitar 6 km ke timur-laut makam terdapat pekan bernama Pasar Rundeng dan masjid ini.

Around 6 km to the north-east of the tomb there is a small town named Pasar Rundeng and this mosque.

Ia diberi nama Masjid Hamzah Fansuri.

It was given the name Masjid (Mosque of) Hamzah Fansuri.

Makam (Tomb of) Sheikh Hamzah Fansuri, Kampung Oboh, Subulussalam

Perjalanan ke arah selatan dan tenggara disambung lebih 100 km lagi untuk sampai ke makam Sheikh Hamzah Fansuri di Kampung Oboh, Subulussalam

Trip towards the south and south-east was continued for another 100 km plus to get to the tomb of Sheikh Hamzah Fansuri at Kampung Oboh, Subulussalam.

Untuk pengetahuan beliau adalah ulamak besar Aceh bertaraf wali abad ke-16 hingga ke-17 Masihi.

For information he was an Aceh major religious master of saintly status in the 16th and 17th century.

Sheikh Hamzah juga adalah seorang sasterawan dan pujangga besar...

Sheikh Hamzah was also a major literary and poetic figure...

Beliau dilahirkan di wilayah Singkil sekitar sini tetapi berkhidmat di istana Aceh di Banda Aceh 600 km ke arah utara.

He was born in the province of Singkil around here but served at the palace of Aceh in Banda Aceh 600 km towards the north.

Inilah makam beliau. Yang lain di sekeliling adalah makam-makam anak muridnya...

This is it his tomb. The others around are tombs of his students...
