Adapun Wan Ja'afar yang disebut namanya dalam masjid tadi merupakan anak kepada Wan Omar bin Wan Abu Bakar. Tujuan utama saya ke masjid adalah untuk mencari makan Wan Abu Bakar lalu ditunjukkan ini.

As it is the Wan Ja'afar whose name was mentioned in the mosque was a son of Wan Omar bin (son of) Wan Abu Bakar. My main reason for going to the mosque was to find the tomb of Wan Abu Bakar and thus I was shown this.

Letaknya di perkarangan kiri dari pintu utama masjid.

Its location is at the left compound from the main entrance of the mosque.

Untuk pengetahuan Wan Abu Bakar ini adalah anakanda kepada Wan Ismail (Laksamana Kedah). Beliau berpindah ke Perak lalu menjadi Penghulu mukim Ijok.

For information this Wan Abu Bakar was a son of Wan Ismail (the Laksamana or royal admiral of Kedah). He moved to Perak and became the Penghulu (head) of Ijok (a subdistict).

Pada satu sudut dalam masjid terdapat galeri kecil ini.

At one corner of the mosque lies this small gallery.

Terdapat salinan watikah menunjukkan penganugerahan gelaran Toh Paduka Raja oleh Sultan Perak pada tahun 1956. Ia merujuk pada Toh Paduka pertama iaitu Wan Jaafar.

There lies a copy of the appointment letter on conferment of the title Toh Paduka Raja by the Sultan (ruler) of Perak in the year 1956. This refers to the first Toh Paduka who was Wan Jaafar.

Ini pula salinan surat wakaf tanah di mana berdirinya masjid.

This is turn is a copy of the letter of trust for the land where lies the mosque.

Next we went to this mosque which is located around 4.3 km to the east of Kota Raja Bersiong.

Ia dinamakan sempena Toh Paduka Raja, satu gelaran Orang Besar 16 negeri Perak.

It is named after the Toh Paduka Raja, a title of one of the Orang Besar 16 (a group of nobleman) in the state of Perak.

Kami ada urusan di Kuala Kedah diikuti di Yan, Juru dan Kampung Changkat. Lewat petang kami berkejar ke satu tempat bernama Kota Raja Bersiong dalam daerah Selama di negeri Perak lalu sampai pada waktu senja.

We had businesses in Kuala Kedah followed by in Yan, Juru and Kampung Changkat. Late in the afternoon we rushed to a place called Kota Raja Bersiong within the district of Selama in the state of Perak and arrived at dusk.

Di sini terdapat formasi batu-batu besar di mana watak legenda bernama Raja Bersiong dari Kedah dikatakan pernah berlindung buat suatu masa.

Here lies a formation of boulders where the legendary figure called Raja Bersiong from Kedah is said to have sought refuge for some time.

Menurut ceritanya Raja Bersiong ketagih makanan mengandungi darah manusia lalu sanggup membunuh untuk memuaskan nafsu.

According to the story Raja Bersiong was addicted to food containing human blood and thus was willing to kill to fulfill his lust.

Ini membawa pada pemberontakan rakyat lalu baginda terpaksa melarikan diri dari istana.

This led to the people's revolt and his majesty had to run away from the palace.

Batu-batu ini dikatakan menjadi tempat bersembunyi lalu dikenali sebagai Kota Raja Bersiong.

These boulders became his hiding place and thus became known as Kota (fort of) Raja Bersiong.

Salam. Masuk pada hari ke-2 perjalanan ke Kedah dan Perak baru ini.

Peace be upon you. On to the 2nd day of the Kedah and Perak trip recently.

Pagi Isnin 21 Februari 2022. Selepas bermalam di selatan bandar raya Alor Setar kami bergerak ke Kuala Kedah lalu terlihat bangunan ini.

Monday morning 21st February 2022. After spending the night in the south of Alor Setar city we moved on to Kuala Kedah and caught sight of this building.

Ia dinyatakan sebagai Galeri Dato' Maharaja Lela. Alamatnya seperti yang kelihatan.

It is stated as Galeri (Gallery of) Dato' Maharaja Lela. The address is as could be seen.

Makam isteri (tomb of wife of) Wan Mat Saman

Turut terserlah di tanah perkuburan ini adalah makam yang kelihatan.

Also standing out in this burial ground is the tomb seen here.

Katanya ia milik seorang isteri kepada Wan Mat Saman, tokoh terkenal yang pernah menjadi Perdana Menteri Kedah abad ke-19 Masihi. 

It is said to belong to a wife of Wan Mat Saman, the famous figure who was the Prime Minister of Kedah in the 19th century.

Batu nesan Aceh di (Aceh tombstone in) Kanchut, Alor Setar

Di tanah perkuburan sama kelihatan sebatang batu nesan Aceh.

At the same burial ground could be seen a single Aceh tombstone.

Tak tahu ia menandakan makam siapa.

It is not known whose tomb it marks.

Cuma berdasarkan bentuk batu nesan dan ragam hias besar kemungkinan ia milik seorang wanita.

It's just based on the shape of the tomb stone and ornamental style most probably it belongs to a woman.

Dari Titi Gajah kami bergerak ke Kanchut berdekatan pusat bandar raya Alor Setar di mana terdapat tanah perkuburan lama ini.

From Titi Gajah we moved on to Kanchut close to Alor Setar city centre where lies this old burial ground.

Di sini terdapat seorang Laksamana Kedah. 

Here lies the tomb of a Laksamana (royal admiral) of Kedah.

Tidak tercatat siapakah nama beliau, cuma tahun meninggal dunia yang bersamaan 1792 Masihi.

His name is not inscribed, just the year he passed away which is equivalent to 1792 AD.

Merujuk pula pada artikel Rumah agam (Mansion of) Ismail, Titi Gajah, Alor Setar yang mana disebut rumah dikatakan oleh sesetengah pihak sebagai milik Wan Ismail yang menjadi Laksamana Kedah abad ke-19.

Referring in turn to the artikel Rumah agam (Mansion of) Ismail, Titi Gajah, Alor Setar in which it is mentioned that some parties said the house belonged to Wan Ismail who was the Laksamana of Kedah in the 19th century.

Oleh kerana pemilik makam ini adalah Laksamana Kedah yang meninggal dunia pada tahun 1792 besar kemungkinan namanya adalah Wan Qusai, datuk kepada Wan Ismail.

Since the owner of this tomb is a Laksamana of Kedah who passed away in the year 1792 it is most likely his name is Wan Qusai, grandfather to Wan Ismail.

Seterusnya kami singgah di Masjid Tuan Hussin tidak jauh dari rumah agam.

Next we stopped by at Masjid (mosque of) Tuan Hussin not far from the mansion.

Seingat saya kali terakhir singgah di masjid ini adalah pada tahun 2011. 

As far as could remember the last time I visited this mosque was in the year 2011.

Ketika itu masjid berwarna coklat cair. Lihat artikel lama Masjid (Mosque of) Tuan Hussin, Titi Gajah.

At that time the mosque was coloured light brown.  Look at the old article Masjid (Mosque of) Tuan Hussin, Titi Gajah.

Sekarang ia berwarna putih.

Now it is coloured white.
