Tidak jauh dari makam terdapat bangunan masjid ini.

Not far from the tomb there lies this mosque building.

Ia adalah masjid lama Pulau Tawar tetapi sudah dijadikan sebuah madrasah.

It is the old mosque of Pulau Tawar but now has been turned into a madrasah (religious school).

Lima tahun lalu saya telah menulis artikel bertajuk Masjid jamek (main mosque of) Pulau Tawar, Pahang merujuk pada sebuah masjid lain yang terletak lebih dekat dengan makam. Lalu saya menyebut masjid itu mungkin tempat Mat Kilau menimba ilmu, membentuk keperibadian pahlawan dan merancang strategi melawan penjajah Inggeris.

Five years ago I've written an article titled Masjid jamek (main mosque of) Pulau Tawar, Pahang referring to a different mosque which is situated nearer to the tomb. Thus I mentioned that the mosque might be the place where Mat Kilau took in knowledge, formed the personality of a warrior and planned strategies to fight the English colonialists.

Kemudian baru saya dapat tahu Mat Kilau berbuat semua itu di masjid ini yang lebih tua.

Later only did I found out Mat Kilau did all that in this mosque which is older.

Dan di masjid inilah Mat Kilau mendedahkan identiti sebenar beliau selepas lama dikatakan mati. Rekod Inggeris menyebut beliau mati akibat luka teruk diserang angkatan Inggeris 1895. Sedangkan Mat Kilau masih hidup lalu berhijrah dari tempat ke tempat memakai pelbagai nama samaran sehinggalah membuat pendedahan 1969 lalu meninggal dunia 1970.

And it was at this mosque that Mat Kilau revealed his true identity after long being being said as having died. English records mentioned him as dying due to serious injuries after being attacked by English forces 1895. While Mat Kilau actually was still alive migrating from place to place using a variety of assumed names until the revelation was made 1969 and he passed away 1970.
